Moiety runs with a classic fish-and-chips menu and a relaxed feel. Plates offer plenty without tipping heavy. Portions make for an easy, filling stop. Fish is cooked to a clean crunch and chips stay tidy. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy.
Really lovely food with some inventive flavour and texture ideas, and a reasonable wine list. Prices felt well balanced and agreeable for a 5 course meal. Really enjoyed the pate with strawberries starter as an add-on.
Had the 5 course menu + sourdough with duck pate and strawberry jam Hints of Japanese influence, flavors were bold and sophisticated, and at times experimental Overall a pleasant dining experience
Sadly we only had time for a quick bite, but wow! The best Pate combination I’ve tried. Strawberry. Freeze dried mandarin. Duck liver. Fresh sourdough. It just worked so perfectly. Makes me want to buy a freeze drier… sorry my photos don’t do it justice.
Fantastic experience. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the chef prepare each dish. Japanese influenced preparation of New Zealand ingredients. Creative and a bit experimental in the best way. Absolutely loved the beef dish and the charred asparagus ice cream.
We had a fantastic time at Moiety. We sat at the counter watching Sam artfully craft our dishes. Each was deftfully presented and tasted exquisite. Kim has selected a fantastic set of wines by the glass. All were excellent but Q Wines's pinot gris was especially delicious. The wine definitely accented the meal. Moiety is one of the top restaurants in the South Island. I recommend it for a lovely night out or a special occasion.
Excellent food atmosphere and service. Very knowledgeable staff especially the main chef. Intimate surroundings and a chance to watch your food be prepared close at hand. Highly recommended.
Very good 5 course meal. Venison was my favourite. The celeriac was a nice surprise and the fish (monk fish I think) was cooked perfectly. Would be nice to have a larger selection of wines. Service was great.
A very special dining place, great atmosphere, fantastic service, we didn't like all of the dishes, but it was a memorable experience
From the moment we arrived the service was excellent. The food was amazing, over two hours of fantastic tastes and textures with complementary wines and cocktails. Sam and his team were unbelievably hospitable, can’t wait to come back.
