“This is where I go for the spices the supermarket no longer stocks. For me, in particular, mace for my plum sauce recipe. But they stock a lot of indian foods and haberdashery from india. That includes incense, individual spices for cooking your own ethnic food. If you're Indian or from the middle east, and in Dunedin, drop by. The proprietor is a lovely guy and you just pat your heart by way of greeting if you don't have the language.”

“I had a great dine-in experience here. The atmosphere was very good and the servers were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately I ordered a main gnocchi dish and got a spaghetti starter instead but i was hungry enough to not care or say anything. Regardless the pasta was delicious and the restaurant was also able to provide complimentary parmesan to accompany my meal. The portion size of the hot chips for a starter was big and great value. “Can't speak highly enough of this business. Their website and blog are what got me started on my cloth nappy journey 4 years ago with my first, and before that got me started on going 100% on reusable menstrual products, way before they were a mainstream thing avaialable in supermarkets. There aren't any pads as good as theirs on the market and after just logging in to try and buy more I'm sad to see the business is for sale! “We have been very impressed by the enthusiasm and professionalism of the staff at Tilemax Dunedin. After visiting several tile suppliers we returned to Tilemax, feeling the passion they have for tiles and tiling, and their excellent knowledge. Eichann has a very good sense of design, and understood and worked with our concepts, taking time to work through a wide range of tiles, explaining about different tile sizes and types. The tiles we chose were very good quality at a very reasonable price. Delivery was arranged to our rural freight depot, and a few tiles broken in shipping were promptly replaced. Also, Eichann arranged for tiles to be held for us at the suppliers warehouse, to ensure we could access the same batch if we needed more tiles. The friendly atmosphere at Tilemax Dunedin included our beloved Labrador who was always made welcome.”

“This shop is terrific! It's split into two different spaces, one dedicated to books, music, etc. and the other space is general op shop stuff. I adore the book level, it's essentially a quality second hand bookshop with op shop prices. If you find yourself at one of these spaces, ask the way to the other as it's not obvious. I don't live in Ōtepoti, however, go there semi-regularly. I drove past the lower level a few times, eventually made time to stop in. I'd gone in few times before a staff member asked me if I knew about the upper level.”
