I’ll be back! The owner greeted me warmly, asked my name and asked where I was parked (the only drawback to this central city shop I could see, but no problem to me as the bus hub is just around the corner.) Bulk prices are cheaper than the supermarket. The beans are grown in India where it is not common practice to spray crops with glyphosate to dry them off and that’s another great plus to me.
Good place to buy hand slaughtered Halal meat. Very friendly owner who constantly want to improve his standards and eager to import items which are not in the list as well. Parking is a bit messy as this is a central place.
This is where I go for the spices the supermarket no longer stocks. For me, in particular, mace for my plum sauce recipe. But they stock a lot of indian foods and haberdashery from india. That includes incense, individual spices for cooking your own ethnic food. If you're Indian or from the middle east, and in Dunedin, drop by. The proprietor is a lovely guy and you just pat your heart by way of greeting if you don't have the language.
There is no better place to shop in Dunedin. Every time I go here I feel better for the experience and always look forward to returning. Genuine old style hospitality and friendship.
Good variety of Indian groceries and misc items. A great gentleman at the counter.
