If you’re Asian or non European save time and just order online and don’t bother going into this store, as you’ll be treated like crap. We’ve been to this store twice across a few years and their customer service has been consistently bad just like many other reviews say. first time around the staff we got a headlamp took it to the counter l, and the staff couldn’t type our names in to register for membership(we have non European names) the lady at the counter laughed at my partner’s name, shook her head (as if to say it’s very complicated) and handed the keyboard to us to type in our names!! Seriously?! She wasn’t patient and didn’t even try, and we were happy to repeat or write it down for her. Now my partner s been in Dunedin for 8+ years and many people have been patient while noting down my name even if they struggle to get it, we eventually get there nice and respectful. But not in macpac. We understand our names are new to people in Aotearoa so happy to repeat and be patient, but if you can’t even try getting customer names then you shouldn’t probably work in customer service or in a people facing role. The second time there were two staff, and we were waiting for assistance to find a product. We approached the guy, and he directed us to the lady who didn’t even look at us and was looking at the computer and said “two minutes” as if she’s doing us a favour. Very rude made us wait, by which time the guy was free, and he tried to help, he was ok. The lady in the mean time had enough time and was happily chatting about with others (Europeans) who actually didn’t need any help or weren’t chatty at all. Macpac might make great gear but this kind of customer service will help no big brand.
Was in store for greater than 10 minutes at lest 3 plus staff no contact at all will spend money back in Australia. Hopefully they aren’t on commission
Bought an outdoor jacket from Dunedin Macpac store without checking the inner side. I WAS EXCITING because this was my first Macpac. However, after 3 days of using, I discovered a torn pocket on top inner side. Approached the dunedin store for exchange (within 10 days of purchased) but was accused of improper care and denied exchange by the lady staff. It might be damaged before I bought it. If indeed a jacket was torn after 3 days of my usage, then I questioned its quality or durability. Before this Macpac jacket, I was using Addidas and Nike jackets and they last for years. Overall, I experienced poor quality product, rude lady staff and poor customer service from this store.
I went into Macpac Dunedin yesterday between 9:30 and 10. I was completely ignored and had to ask for assistance. The girl was very helpful and showed me where the items were I wanted then she and her colleague stood behind the counter and busied themselves on the computer. I then spent 10-15 minutes running in and out of the changing rooms getting different sizes and colours of what I wanted. No help offered at all. When I went to purchase my items I told them I’d been ignored and that I had to get the items I needed. The guy sheepishly apologised but clearly from other reviews nothing has changed. Obviously there’s no expectation that employees approach and help customers. Disappointing given we have choice and I will choose to go elsewhere
We shopped at macpac today and were served by a young man with dark hair. Friendly and helpful

Today we visited the Dunedin store, 4 staff were present, all stood behind the counter laughing loudley together and watching videos. All 8 customers served them selves not once were we asked if we needed help we spent 15 mins in the store before asking for help and feeling as if we had interuppted them Terrible service
I decided to step outside my comfort zone and take on some of the great walks New Zealand has to offer. Choosing where to buy gear was tricky with so many stores to choose from. Macpac in Dunedin have been exceptional and I have purchased the majority of my gear from there. The customer service has been outstanding and also the pricing of their gear is competitive. I'm not one to shop solely on price though. If I get great service I'll keep going back. Macpac Dunedin you are absolute champs!!
I was really impressed with my first visit to the Macpac Dunedin store. The customer service was exceptional. Really friendly, welcoming and helpful. Had some good banter too, which was cool. 2nd visit, same deal. Excellent customer service, really happy with the quality of the clothing purchased and decent sale prices too. Third visit to the store... Not so good, staff nowhere to be seen, so I went looking for what I was after. Couldn't find it, and hadn't been approached by staff who by this stage were talking amongst themselves at the counter, so I walked out and went to Kathmandu. 2 out of 3 ain't bad, I'll most likely be back again soon.
