“Loved it! Very educational and well done”
“Huge playground for the little ones and big kids. It's huge and with lot of equipments. It will keep the kids busy for hours and hours. Parking is available next to the park and if you are lucky a food truck will also be present next to the park to have some snacks if needed.”
“Have seen a number of performances in this great space and I think it accommodates live performances very well.”
“Great park with scenic views Toilets and rubbish bins on hand The park is not fenced but is on a quiet road”
“Great acoustics, easy access to seating. Parking not so easy.”
“The hall is very clean and huge. It can handle more events and the centre can accommodate a huge number of people. Has securities so it can help to keep children sage and behave.”
“Amazing actors in the play 'The Crucible'. Not knowing the story I was surprised it was close to 3 hrs long.”

“Great Park. Would suit a disc golf course”
“Can spend a lot of time with kids here. Nice walking path with trees, ponds and bridges to cross. You can fish with the lake being stocked with fish ( just check there is not any current restrictions due to chemical spraying) There's two playgrounds and hire boats on a boating lake. Lots of ducks and even spotted an eel to feed”
“This has always been and continues to be a great community facility, thanks to all the dedicated people who work and provide all the great services and information to visitors/residents of our community, including my personal favorite, Sam and crew @ Computer Tech help. Sincere thanks to Hornby Community Centre.”
“This park is fantastic, right up there with the Margaret Mahy park. Right by the sea.”
“Great fun had by our group!!! Youngest being 5 oldest 72 years Will be back”
“I can’t recommend the lead climbing course with Will highly enough. I’d done the course before and the instructor was really knowledgeable, but found the information a bit overwhelming. This time, Will paced the learning really well and gave us heaps of hands-on practice, which made all the difference. By the time we made it onto the crag at the end of the second course, we all felt confident, safe, and comfortable lead climbing and cleaning. Will’s a fantastic instructor—friendly, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable—but what stood out most was his ability to teach in a way that supports genuine understanding and long-term retention. He doesn’t just tell you what to do—he helps you understand why you're doing it, which made everything click. Loved it from start to finish and would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to build solid skills and confidence in the centre as well as on the rock.”
“Great pop up museum! I am waiting for the new one.”
“Visited on a weekday morning. Very tranquil and peaceful. Immaculate gardens with a stream flowing through.”
“Jungle room was perfect for my daughters 3rd birthday. She had such a blast playing with her friends. The private jungle room is perfect for the friends/family combo It was really special that the grandparents could watch her play and be included in the party while she could explore all that the room had on offer. Thanks flip and tumbles highly recommend and will be back.”
“Amazing new playground, well designed for kids of all ages. Very creative play equipment. Kids there have been very well mannered and play well together. There are sheltered benches to rest and a drinking fountain. Plenty of parking in the carpark. Location is great, just opposite the aquatic centre so we usually pop over for a swim after a play. Toilets are a few mins walk away, not very close.”
“Great little playground tucked away here”
“Caught the sunset here on a weekday and had the entire place to myself. Very tranquil and good spot for a picnic.”
“Tucked away little treasure, great views, my kids really enjoyed playing here.”
“Had a coffee break out witnessing. Watch out for the golfers hitting golf balls lol. i noticed there was a lot of green grass and trees, pioneer stadium is close by and one good feature out side was that there was volley ball courts and tennis courts and basket ball courts all available free to use. and there are picnic tables and a barbeque there to use, so i recommend trying out this place with your family.”
“Great location to take the kids to burn of some steam.”
“Good place to walk your dogs. Been going here for a few years now and no issues with aggressive dogs or owners. Is busy on saturday mornings.”
“Loved it out here!!Clean toilets. The only thing is you have to make sure you bring your own water as the water there is not potable but you can go to Leeston and refill up at the fire station or download the app refill N.Z and use the locations available for drinking water. Also no showers but the freshwater creek is awesome lol ....suitable for kids as water is shallow. Definately go back there again.”
“Great open space and a neat playground for the kids. Be careful not to get bowled over by the bikes that travel through!”
“Facilities a bit old, but kits had a lot of fun”
“A nice park not far from Northlands Mall. Two small main entrances that are quite narrow making you believe its just a small park. However they lead out to a large open grass area. Its also nice that there are quite a lot of trees surrounding the open grass area, more so than most parks. There is a medium sized playground located near one of the entrances on St James Ave. Overall a very nice park.”
“Ideal for parties and family activities .. large grassed area fenced off at the back of small, uncluttered hall. Kitchen, chairs, and tables available. Can hire for the day.”
“Great accessible playground for toddlers! So much to do and older siblings will have fun too”
