“I had the best day at Yawara Ramen bar. The ramen is affordable and super delicious (some of the best ramen I’ve ever had as someone who has been to Japan). The portion sizes are generous and even the regular leaves you more than satisfied. The staff were super friendly and down to Earth. I had some wonderful conversations with the man with the kuma (くま) on his shirt! After lunch we went to the cafe section of the restaurant and bought so many treats that were equally as delicious. Extensive matcha menu is something I would like to try and will definitely be back. I loved it at Yawara Ramen bar!”

Exceptionally fresh seafood prepared with such care and skill… attention to detail across all elements of plating and service… a warm, relaxed yet higher-end dining experience - it’s one of the best meals out I’ve ever had. The food was just immaculate - after tasting this tempura prawn maki you understand what this dish could be… so juicy and massive and generous and fresh are those prawns with that tender perfect rice and light tempura crunch paired with the creamy avocado - it’s just incredible. The sake selection is also so beautiful… there is so much crap sake floating around Auckland… this is the standard of excellence. We had such an amazing time. It’s a really special place.”

“It's half-price when I went there after 4pm. I felt much better. As you know, prices in New Zealand are too high. There was sushi for vegetarian and there were various kinds of fried food. The fried food was sweet and delicious because it had chili sauce on it. It was a satisfying meal. I want to try Donburi next time. All the food in Marusushi looks delicious.”

“This Japanese restaurant in Newmarket is such a delightful gem, offering you delicious menu with high quality ingredients with authentic flavours. The chef is amazing, she cooks succulent chicken with a healthy mix of tsukemono and options to choose purple rice. Even their miso soup comes with chopped tofu. They change their tsukemono on different days. So far the karaage chicken and teriyaki chicken are delicious, feels like a hearty Japanese home cooking. Give them a whirl — just across the Newmarket train station!”

Fantastic service and again the food is delicious. Located at East Ridge Eatery which allows groups to choose from different restaurants but still sit together.”

“A hidden gem that serves up some fantastic ramen and other dishes. Went here with my fiancée to grab some ramen and katsu after a long day of adventures and hikes. They are in a rather odd location, a warehouse district with no discerning signs of a restaurant in the heart of it. However if you have the drive it has definitely worth a stop. Staff is super friendly and dishes come out piping hot. Would just mention that there isn’t a ton of seating inside and outside so larger parties may run into some obstacles there. However a more intimate dinner date is easy.”

“This is the best Japanese restaurant on the north shore and that I have ever been to. The food is exceptionally good. The service is consistently wonderful and they always make sure you feel welcomed and happy. The staff are all amazing and the store is consistently clean and tidy. I love this store and the lovely staff who make my day every time I walk in. TLDR: Great food, Great cleanliness, Amazing service. 10/10, would give more stars if possible.”

“Been going here for about five years. The best suishi around bar non, their tuna & avocado roll, & salmon avocado rolls are the absolute best there is no comparison. They make incredible Udon too, when they're closed I'm always so disappointed with other sushi places. Try them, you wont regret it, seriously!”
