   No complaints about the food. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, would be back for sure.i just think staff need to be slightly more receptive, didn’t get water until we asked for it and also didn’t refill until we asked, didn’t also realise that our food was finished, had to go to counter to ask for a dessert menu. It wasn’t that busy either. If staff were a bit more attentive it would have been an amazing experience. Nonetheless chef deserves 5 stars! Amazing sushi

   We recently visited Izu Restaurant in Papakura and ordered a few of our favourites the chicken teriyaki, chicken karaage, and salmon sushi. The food came out beautifully presented and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The chicken teriyaki was cooked perfectly with a nice balance of sweetness and savoury flavour in the sauce. The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and tender inside, not oily at all, which is always a good sign. The salmon sushi was also very fresh, with a clean taste that really stood out. You could tell the ingredients were of good quality and prepared with care. In terms of pricing, it’s a little on the higher side compared to some other Japanese places around Auckland, but given the freshness and overall quality, it still feels worth it. You’re paying for well-made food rather than something rushed or pre-made. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during dinner hours or weekends. The area around the restaurant tends to get busy, so it might take a few minutes to find a spot. It’s not a dealbreaker, but worth keeping in mind if you’re in a hurry. Service-wise, things were a bit slow during our visit. There were only two staff members working….one behind the bar and one managing the floor ….so they seemed to be stretched thin. Despite that, both were polite and tried their best to keep up with the crowd. It looked like they might have been short-staffed that day, so it’s understandable. Overall, Izu is a cozy spot with great-tasting, fresh Japanese food. The quality definitely stands out, even if the service can be a bit slow when it’s busy. If you’re not in a rush and want a relaxed meal with authentic flavours, it’s definitely worth a visit.

   What a wonderful place in the heart of Papakura. The food is delicious, presented in a wonderful way, and the atmosphere is great. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this gem of a place in Papakura, and I keep recommending it to all my friends!

   food was SO good. everything was good. shocked by how good the fries were - absolutely jaw dropping. everything on the dessert menu is such a slay - my fave was the sesame ice cream. lovely ambience, had a lovely dining experience. photo attached for proof that everything was DEVOURED

   A hidden gem blending Kiwi and Japanese flavors, this low-profile restaurant impresses with its creative fusion cuisine. The cocktails are a bit pricey but worth every sip. While the food shines, the staff could be more patient and enthusiastic in guiding guests through the menu.

   Pleasantly surprised, great Japanese food in South Auckland. The food rivals the taste and quality of Japanese restaurants in the CBD. Tasting plater for two is highly recommended, a nice way to to see and taste the skill of the chefs at Izu.

   We booked a table for 5 people for 7pm and I mentioned to the lady that we may run a bit late on the phone as we were coming from the Shore. We got there around 7.30 and were told to put our orders through ASAP as the kitchen was closing. Not something good expect when closing time states 9pm. However, the rest of the evening ran smooth. And the food was amazing. I'd definitely go back.
