I went there on a sunday early evening for dinner. Had a table available right away and ordered the Pork kakuni with kake udon, absolutely delicious!! Staff was very friendly too.
Such a good place for mother and daughter time:) we both enjoyed the udon, especially the tempura and hot pot ones!
A cosy little restaurant. Although the name suggests it is an Udon restaurant, it also serves don (rice bowls) and sashimi. Udon is nice and chewy. Sashimi is fresh, though sizes are relatively small. Tempura is crispy and not oily.
A small place that has wonderful service and great food. We went on a Saturday in June 2025 just as it opened and the place filled quickly. The food was as good as the last time we went. It is reasonably priced.
Another Saturday lunch date with my son at our favourite Japanese restaurant in Dominion Road. As authentic as can be, the Japanese chef has been there since our first (of many) visit years ago. Got the chef special this time, and hot noodles, plus Asahi beer. Great food, taste hasn't changed, yum. Always full of patrons. Dining area a bit small but still, a great experience. One of my new favourite places to eat in Auckland! Staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and fresh, and everything is reasonably priced. The vibes were immaculate ✨ and the place was very reminiscent of restaurants I've been to in Japan. I have recommended UdonWorks to all my friends and I will definitely be back! :)
If you want an authentic Japanese udon house experience, go to this restaurant. Udon is done in house. Food is prepared in the morning and cooked as you order. The dashi of the broth tastes amazing. It's full on most nights, so come in on a Monday or Tuesday. Good food, good service.
After waiting a year to bring my family here we finally were able to get a table for dinner by arriving at 5.30pm on the dot( they don't take bookings). The food was great and worth the wait, fresh and tasty with a subtly favoured broth. Dietary restrictions were well catered for. Unfortunately two mains arrived well after the first two. The two waitresses were busy, so I am not sure what happened. I still recommend this lovely small restaurant because the food is so good.
One of the best places to enjoy udon, love that you can have as a hot soup or cold style. Very reasonable price for what you get. Only downside is usually having to wait and it's a small shop
Taste: 9.5/10 One of the best priced, high quality food restaurants in Auckland. Surprising quality sashimi for a udon place, probably better price and quality than most sushi places. Crazy tempuras that are light and very crisp. Well brewed broth with nice unami flavour. I believed the udons itself was previously a bit too thick so it was a bit bland to be served with the broth but it’s been improve and it’s a great texture and thickness now.
