“Great food loved the chicken tacos Cesar salad could’ve done with more dressing and a boiled egg instead of poached but tasted great chicken was juicy definitely will be back service was awesome too”
“Another local favourite, with plenty of great ways to enjoy your fresh coffee - Steampunk and Nitro among the 'must try' options - and a knowledgeable staff happy to help find your favourites!”
“A wonderful birthday lunch at Picnic! I cannot thank Picnic Cafe enough for an absolutely fabulous 70th birthday lunch! It was Wellington on a good day and the roses were in full bloom. This is such a fantastic venue for Welly locals and especially for visitors. The service was outstanding with the manager and his staff graciously, attentively and very efficiently accommodating 26 exuberant family and friends. It worked beautifully for the group that each could select what they wanted for lunch and the atmosphere was relaxed and, well, picnic-y. It couldn't have been better! Highly recommended. Thank you to Paul Lester and J Paul and Picnic! Mary Dec 2025”
“Great coffee and a pleasant space showcasing the charm of the old bank.”
“Good place to stop for a while and get a drink in downtown Wellington. Freindly service, good food.”
“Busy cafe, good food and service”
“Lovely coffee with a calm atmosphere and plenty of seating”

“Great cheese scones, actually the best in Welly! Great coffee too.”
“Best coffee and food at Wellington hospital , I highly recommend Mojo at the hospital.”
“Great cafe in the airport Delicious creamy scrambled eggs on sourdough with crispy hash brown, fresh avo, and a smooth flat white. Quick service, tasty food, and a bright vibe. Perfect pre-flight stop!”
“Staying in Wellington for a couple of days and decided to stop by before flying out after seeing all the great reviews. Went first thing in the morning, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The ambience was exactly my style. I’m not even a big coffee drinker, but I could still tell how good the coffee was—distinct and different from your average spot. You can tell they care about their craft. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their coffees next time I’m in town.”
“I mean, warm, tasty empanadas, sweet, endulging homemade alfajores, classic kiwi chippies, beach side, in wellington on a nice sunny day... What more could you ask for. Need to stop here and get yourself a sweet (or two!) And a savoury if you're passing by. Highly recommend. She was lovely too.”
“Love the sister cafe in Petone and this is no different. Service with a smile, great coffee, loads of keto and veg options available and most of all, brilliant indoor and outdoor seating available. There is also a couple of 15min parks right in front for a quick turnaround. Lots of free street parking available too if you plan to eat in.”
“Absolutely fantastic! Coffee is great. Atmosphere really easy and rustic (just as I love it. Something that I really loved is that they promote the use of your own cup instead of paper goblets (go green!) They also make their own pizzas. So far, the cheapest café I had in New Zealand”
“On a cold Wellington morning, we ducked into this cafe for a couple of coffees. Warm, friendly service and tasty coffee. Cute little courtyard out the back sheltered from the wind.”
“Everything looks good on this simple 2-page all-day menu! We went for the wellness bowl and the mushrooms on flat bread. Both were delicious. Food was served quickly. This is a great place for breakfast, lunch or brunch!”
“Hands down the best coffee I’ve had!”
“Mainly visit as my daughter is fond of bubble tea! But the place is generally very neat and it has a nice white relaxing decoration if you enjoy to sip your drink on site. The packaging of the drink is very attractive and it comes in a sealed disposable cup with a straw.”
“Locals suggested me to come here and oh boy - one of the best places in Wellington for sure! I can’t remember when I had a better toast than the one I got here. Lovely staff members, great food and wonderful coffee! Perfect atmosphere to come for a small bite or stay longer and chill ✨”
“Just had the most amazing 3 course meal featuring Sri Lankan Hoppers. Incredible food, really lovely service and got to see the hoppers being made by the chef. The flavours were outstanding, highly recommend eating at the T Lounge by Dilmah. Keep an eye out for their specialties Thursday and Friday nights.”
“As other's have said, they're is a great friendly feel in this cafe. We had never been before and chose to go for a Saturday bringing and chat. We both had The pancakes, I went for the net pancakes and my friend had the banana and bacon. These were easily the best pancakes I've had in the Wellington region and really left me happy.”
“Just want to write a review to shout out just how amazing the food and service was at Martha's Pantry! We were a party of 9, doing a surprise bridal shower high tea for a friend. Martha's Pantry happily and thoughtfully accommodated our little particular requests. One of our party was Diary-Free and Gluten-Free, but for particular flours. The chef reviewed the list of what flours she can and cannot have, and very kindly was able to adapt the high tea for her. The guest had a great time and was so stoked that she was able to enjoy a high tea experience as that doesn't happen very often. So thank you Martha's Pantry team for making it an awesome afternoon for us!”
“Amazing !! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic.!”
“Best place by far to get your coffee fix in the morning! Highly recommend giving them a try if you haven't already.”
“Designed mainly as a takeaway or eat and go place. There are some tables to but not many as the place is quite small. Coffees are reasonably priced below average at $3.50 a cup (standard price is usually around the $5 mark) which attracts some regulars that work nearby. Scones and pastry looks delicious but sell out fast- didn’t have a chance to try by the time I reached the counter lol. Coffee is good quality. Service is brisk and friendly. Would definitely come back and I highly recommend checking it out :)”
“Always looking for places to have a healthy but tasty lunch, I found this beautiful café. I had a cauliflower salad with poached eggs, and it was amazing. And last but not least, the service was outstanding. I’ll come back for sure!!”
“This is a fantastic spot for brunch and coffee. It’s a busy cafe so it might pay to book ahead, however we turned up and had to wait 15 minutes for a table for 2. Once we were seated the service was fantastic. I was eager to try the espresso tasting flight and loved it, a staff member explained the origins of the coffee which was great. The food was fantastic, it came out quick and the quality was exceptional! We are definitely going to come back again.”
“Great espresso, very acidic but just the way I like it.”
“Sandwiches are good amd delicious! Always crowded, sometimes can't hear what my friends says, but it was okay because food and coffee here are the BEST. Come in the morning or late afternoon on spring or autumn. Magical.”
