“After check in at the Quality Hotel Elms, we wandered downstairs and asked the front desk about nearby pubs with patios. The ‘concierge’? said, “we have a patio”. I said “I need craft beer that is not Heineken or Budweiser”. The concierge smiled and said “we have that”. I said “show me this goodness”. We sat outside on the Fig Restaurant and Bar patio for a few hours and ran the Monteith's brewery tap list. We were lucky in that this seemed to be the only pub/bar in the area that actually had a patio and we made the most of it. Beer was great. Service was great. I think they also ran the restaurant in the hotel but am not 100% sure so wont comment on the food.”

“I’ve been going to Stan’s Pharmacy now for around 7-8 years. Always so grateful for their opening hours, the care and attention staff alway show. The amount of useful information they share about your prescription and any interactions to be mindful of etc. Stan’s Pharmacy is the best in town and so grateful for their advice and care. “A spontaneous stop on the way to Chartwell & my friend & I were glad we did. A cafe that is airy, clean & spacious..nothing over the top fancy, just simple, comfortable & peaceful. We shared: egg sandwiches, sausage roll & apple strudel. Well..the tastiest egg sandwich in a long time, & had to be the best strudel I've ever had..yum & only slightly heated perfectly. My friend enjoyed her coffee & I changed my mind at last moment from coffee to try an iced chocolate..it was delicious with good amount of chocolate..nice chocolate too. I will be back when on next trip from Whangarei to visit family..for sure. O..I also brought a macadamia toffee n chocolate cookie which I ate on travel home that evening! Yum. Lovely staff! Footnote: I wrote the above over 2 years ago..I still pop here every time I'm in Hamilton..their Ginger crunch is the best..but not to eat straight away-let it come to room temperature soo best to takeaway..I suggest. Haven't had macadamia toffee crunch for ages though..I just remembered about this treat after reading the review I first wrote.”

“The best Chinese restaurant in Hamilton! Nice spicy food very delicious. The only day I don’t come to eat is Tuesday. Only because they are closed on Tuesday lol! It’s not like Sichuan food which is just spicy, the food of Xiang style is more focused on flavor and taste. Highly recommend!”

Asking if we loved the food and suggesting lots. Small and intimate, not very big, with no restrooms. A definition of authentic Cantonese dumplings. I felt like I was back in Hong Kong.”
