“Pretty small school with just over 130 pupils. Nice and new buildings with a large playground and basketball court. Everyone is very friendly and the principal is awesome. He just had his 20 year anniversary and knows every student by name. Highly recommended school”
“This Language Class is great! Honestly the best place for your under 5's. Highly recommended!”
“A child-led environment through and through! Whānau working as a cooperative to ensure the very best outcome for their tamariki. An awesome environment no matter what your child’s interests are and what your strengths are as a parent or caregiver. The outdoor area is magical!”

“Such a beautiful lady, really cares for her students. Amazing teacher”
“We moved from Auckland to Christchurch and our son was at Halswell Nest for 2 years. In that time it’s hard to articulate how amazing for him, and our family the centre was to us. The teachers are absolutely awesome, they encourage the children to explore, and do lots of outings with the kids, even if it’s down the road to the park, to the library or even to the supermarket for baking supplies. I really valued the smaller numbers, home-away-from-home vibe, the caring nature of the team, as well as their experience. I also liked that all ages were in together, which allowed our son to learn to interact with kids of all ages. They do have a separate space for younger children but encourage play across age groups. It was with reluctance we left to head away again, but we will never forget our time there and people we met. The owners and teachers really supported us through the pandemic, we felt cared for and supported. Thanks team! All the best :-)”
“North Beach Playcentre has been such an amazing place for our whanau. My children have so much fun and have become confident, capable and ready to face challenges. I love the sense of community and having them in an Early childhood education where I am actively involved in their learning. We also love that all three of our children could play together in the same space.”
“If you've never walked into a room full of 30 kids, that feels calm and peaceful - it's a pretty magical experience. Both my boys have attended this preschool from the age of around 2, and I don't know what kind of magic the teachers here possess but it's pretty common to walk in to a calm room, 30 kids of various ages working on something with a teacher, or playing peacefully together, or happily playing independently. This is an awesome preschool - amazing teachers, really hands on manager, and the coolest sandpit my boys had ever seen. Any time we've had an issue over the years the staff have been really proactive and managed it well. It's a fantastic preschool and absolutely incredible team of teachers who give so much to the kids every day.”
