“Haven’t been for a while but popped in for lunch with a couple of colleagues. The service was great - wait staff were very attentive and pleasant (they actually smiled - you don’t always get that these days). The meals themselves exceeded my expectations, both in flavour and size. There was also no issue with a small meal alteration I had. And I had an almond hot chocolate (which can sometimes be a bit hit-or-miss depending where you go) but it was nice and hot, and absolutely delicious… 10/10”

“Always awesome. As a couple we would visit Bootleg at least monthly and each visit is just a great experience. The venue is comfy, rustic, an excellent example of giving life into an old building. The staff go out of their way to welcome us and free tastings are part of the experience. I am not an avid craft beer drinker, but there are so many other options, cider/sours/ lagers...the rhubarb cider when on tap is amazing. Thanks Bootleg team”

“I would like to order a chicken bowl please. Service is amazing I will take care of this sweet hearted sushi lady when she gets old. I will ensure that she gets everything she wants. I would die for this sushi shop AMAZING FOOD AMAZING QUALITY! I hate subway Silverdale very bad food compare to this. I remember having a whiff of the sushi sent me straight to Japan. The food here give me a bittersweet sense of nostalgia.”

For $12 each, we each got 4 crispy pieces of boneless chicken, plus pickles. Yummy! It was enough for a light lunch. Quirky decorations. Quick & friendly service. Plan to go back soon.”

“I love stopping by when I'm in the area. Staff are professional and kind, and the positive energy they project reflects on to the food they serve. Sushi is incredibly delicious, and so is the Ramen! They have a variety of sushi to choose from, which is a bonus for those wanting to expand their palates. They also have a variety of beverages to choose from, including Japanese imported drinks! The restaurant is always neat and tidy and has a beautiful Japanese feel to it! The atmosphere of the restaurant feels peaceful and calm, and this is one of the many reasons I love coming back here. To note, on my most recent visit to the store, a staff member was so generous that she gifted me and 3 others sweet & salty rice crackers. How grateful we were! Thank you, Sushi Magic!”

“I have been wanting to try this place for some time now on my work visits down from Auckland. Glad I finally did, new fav Hamilton restaurant! Service was outstanding, food was absolutely delicious. I had the Turkish meatballs as per wait staff recommendation (I would not normally order this dish first up) and I did not regret it. Portion size was not huge (which I prefer) so room for desert and the baklava and tahini ice cream did not disappoint. You can tell there are some generational recipes being passed down here. Yum!”

“I took a group of 8 ladies to Alpino on Saturday for a Luxe Day Out for my business Her Luxe Travel and we had a phenomenal time. Not only were Alpino great to work with to set up how I wanted the experience, on the day they delivered 110%. The food was to die for, service was friendly and efficient. We were sat in the area at the front that is somewhat closed off from the rest of the restaurant and it couldn't have been more perfect. Definitely glad I've chosen Alpino for my Retreat welcome lunches ☺️”

“I have done this place a huge injustice by living in Hamilton for 10 years without knowing it existed!!! The interior resembles a real Italian trattoria, and the ambience is authentic. “If you’re ever in Hamilton, I absolutely suggest giving Dr Donburi a try. It’s a fantastic spot that won’t break the bank, with hearty portions and incredible flavors. We tried Teriyaki chicken and Chicken Katsu Donburi. The free-flowing miso soup is a great bonus, and the staff are genuinely welcoming, making the whole dining experience even better. Honestly, it checks all the boxes!”
