“I come from Linwood to buy their Chicken fries noodles. This is my favorite Chinese one anytime in Christchurch.”
“delicious food!! size was pretty massive, we were there when they almost close, but they let us in and cook for us. very kind gesture. we ordered a bunch of food and couldn't finish it. the highlight is their congee, i really enjoy their century egg congee. full of eggs inside. their yumcha also very nice. i would recommend this place.”
“This is our now 'go to' for a takeaway since the closure of our previous favourite in Timaru. The choices and quality of food is excellent and staff are pleasant and friendly. Certainly worth our 25 km trip for that night off from cooking and all those special occasions when you treat the family.”
“Fantastic food, great pricing, the chilli oil is the best, top tip is to see if they are open before you venture out as the shop hours/days are a little random compared to usual restaurants, but well worth it..”
“If you're a fan of authentic Chinese cuisine, Benson Chinese Restaurant is a must-visit spot in Christchurch. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the delicious food. The menu at Benson Chinese Restaurant is extensive and offers a wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes. From savory noodle dishes to fragrant soups, crispy fried appetizers, and flavorful main dishes, there's something for everyone on the menu. Plus, the chefs use only the freshest ingredients and authentic spices to create their dishes, so you know you're getting a true taste of China. But what really sets Benson Chinese Restaurant apart is the quality of the food and the service. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive, and they're always happy to make recommendations or help you navigate the menu. And the chefs are true masters of their craft, creating dishes that are both delicious and visually stunning. Overall, I highly recommend Benson Chinese Restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Chinese dining experience in Christchurch. With its welcoming atmosphere, fantastic menu, and exceptional service, it's no wonder that this restaurant has become a favorite among locals and tourists alike. So why not make a reservation today and see for yourself? You won't be disappointed!”
“This is as good as it gets. Really good Chinese food. Authentic Chinese and kiwi favourites as well. Nice, friendly service. Bathroom has had a major, much needed upgrade. In fact the whole place has been upgraded. We will definitely be back. From the way that the other customers (four different groups, two Chinese, two kiwi) related to the staff, you could tell that they weren't there their first time. It's a good sign when customers come back. We had the curry chicken, cha shao pork (much bigger dish than in the menu photo), Fu Yong egg (omelette thingy) and stir fried veggies. All delicious.”
Oriental Taste/Crispy Chicken delivers a classic fish‑and‑chips line‑up that’s straight to the point. Portions suit sharing without tipping heavy. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down.
“Nice restaurant with yummy food. Very close to the airport. Staffs are friendly and helpful.”
“Car always goes there and stops. This is truly a wonderful place for everyday healthy chinese meals. All food are excellent and chefs are outstanding”
“Seoulful tastes, Seoulful vibe! Tried the chicken on rice, gimbap, tteokbokki, and pork cutlet — just like home. Clean flavours, tidy presentation, spotless kitchen, and genuinely kind service. Korean comfort done right in Christchurch.”
On the plate at Old Street Asian Hawker Food, the idea is Japanese‑leaning and well judged. Packaging keeps things in good shape to go. Value feels fair for the quality. Portions are generous yet well judged.
“Very good dining atmosphere. Had The sushi train experience. Wish there could be more sashimi variety that will be amazing.”
Captain Ben's keeps things classic fish‑and‑chips and focused on flavour. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down. Fillets arrive fresh and the fry stays clean. Easy carry‑out for a simple night in.
“Really good portion and tasty food, good portion to price”
“Delicious and very satisfying food. Wonderful flavours and atmosphere that make one feel like they are in China. Highly recommended. Vegan and vegetarian are catered for, although limited. But hey, what is here is worth coming for.”
“Not being from Christchurch we wanted some Chinese and found this place which we decided to try. A little on the pricey side but we really enjoyed our dishes, honey bbq pork is delicious, great sweet and sour pork, satay chicken, combination fried rice and singpore noodles. Would come back so highly recommend.”
“Went here for a friends birthday dinner and it exceeded expectations! Fabulous service from Georgia and Molly, and even better food! Drinks were lovely and will definitely be coming back!”
“healthy and yummy food with decent price, 4 days in town every day came for lunch or dinner, especially kids love it.”
“After having local food for 10 days. We are craving for Chinese food. We manage to try this restaurant visited by many Chinese living in Christchurch. It is Hongkong style food. Pickled duck wings. Steam blue cod fish. Ginger and spring onion Venison hot plate. Crispy skin Peking duck. Steamed oyster with vermicelli. All cooked to perfection and taste like food eaten in Hongkong. . Food : 5/5 Service : 4/5 Price : $$$ Place : 3/5”
“Vegetarian options! Had a delicious lunch here. Two of us ordered Jasmine Tea, Twice Cooked Tofu, Stir Fried Potato & Capsicum, and a medium bowl of rice. We finished everything and felt good full, not too full. Their tofu is locally sourced! It was fried, puffy, soft, and soaked up sauce excellently. They have soy sauce, white pepper, and chilli oil available, too. The large menu offers Cambodian,Thai, Chinese, and some other cuisines. Lots of dishes non-Chinese people will know, and some you won’t! We ordered dishes from the Chinese menu and I’d recommend both. A Note on Meat — if you’re vegetarian or vegan make sure to ask for no meat, egg, and/or dairy. Not all dish names mention meat but lots of Chinese dishes often include meat even tofu dishes. The restaurant’s interior is the Shabby Chic I adore of Chinese Restaurants in New Zealand — lanterns, large tables with lazy susan’s, photos of menu items on the wall etc. Perfect!”
