“I visited this fine wee establishment today while out riding my motorbike from Cambridge to Auckland and back. What can I say... the staff were so friendly and accommodating. As I'm on a rather strict diet, I didn't eat anything, but the cabinet food and food service looked so appetising and yum. The service, well the owner should be very proud of his staff, they work with purpose and a smile... loved it!! And the atmosphere was quaint rustic charm, spot on!! Not only highly recommended, but definitely a must visit again.”

“A gem of a place, super delicious coffee and incredible cakes and pastries, we wanted to try everything and got a few different bits but the caramel, pear and walnut tart was a definite stand out. “While out and about in South Auckland, we stumbled upon The Alexander Cafe, a hidden gem tucked away in an industrial-style area of Ōtara. From the outside, it’s unassuming, but step inside, and you’ll find a relaxed, welcoming spot that’s perfect for a coffee break. We only had time for drinks, but they did not disappoint. We ordered an Iced Coffee with caramel syrup (no cream) and a Dirty Chai (chai with a shot of espresso) — both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was laid-back, with great music that made it easy to unwind. There’s plenty of seating inside, plus outdoor options for those who prefer fresh air. The menu offers a great selection of food, with a well-stocked cabinet of tempting bites. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Alexander Cafe is definitely worth a visit!”

“This place just re-opened last week. Their bruch options are classic and delicious. They do a very good coffee! Would recommend the Rosti Benedict with hot smoked salmon! All their pastries and cakes are fresh and made in house too. Location is beautiful, you can half a walk along the beach after your meal! The new owners are lovely and very friendly!”

“Ordered the Great Big Breakfast for brunch today. Definitely hit the spot, satisfying my hunger pains after a big gym session. Scrambled eggs (extra eggs) cooked to perfection. Breakfast sausage full of flavor, hash brown golden and crunchy. Bacon cooked just right. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The Cafe had a nice warm and homely vibe. Definitely recommend this place if your looking for somewhere nice to eat.”

“Cozy and busy but very good and the service can be quick if you are just getting from the cabinet. Latte was perfect. The pancakes were a delight! There was also a plate of delicious French toast but I didn't get a photo”

“Never seen fried chicken eggs Benedict on any menu before, so I has to try it. The fried chicken here is very good and the eggs were poached well. The Best Ugly bagel with cream cheese and salmon was also very good. I didn't ask what roast the coffee was but it was rich and creamy. I recommend taking the short drive out from the normal cafe areas of central Auckland for a great value breakfast.”

“Delicious big breakfast! Possibly the best I’ve had on the shore! It came with everything I’d want on a breakfast with homemade baked beans, a potato rosti, perfectly cooked eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tasty sausages and just overall amazing! My friend got the smashed avomamae, panna cotta muesli and orange juice which came together as one dish, for anybody who can’t decide between sweet and savoury! Would definitely recommend KARA! Friendly table service!”

“Fantastic little cafe with delicious cabinet and menu options! Tried the matcha strawberry latte, early grey basque cheesecake, and the HK French toast. All were delicious and drool worthy. They look AND taste amazing (which can be hard to find). Really want to go again to try more of their menu! The staff and owners are very warm, welcoming, friendly and cheerful. There were so many locals that swung by for their usual orders and the team were tuned in. Knew the regular orders, continued conversations from when they last saw them, so just some really genuine people. Also dog friendly, which is my personal favourite point!”
