Was met upon an unfriendly face which was disappointing which doesn't reflect the atmosphere of this establishment its bright and inviting felt like we were bothering her by ordering. Waited 40 minutes for our meal to come out cold/warm was informed that there was only 1 chef on which would have preferred to be told that upon arrival as a family with a young toddler the patience is thin. Didn't accept the meal and paid for our drinks and left. Didn't reflect the reviews we had read to come here. Maybe just a bad day but won't be returning

Had zuchinni fritters, omelette & chicken waffles. Presentation was great, but taste was a little disappointing. Fritters were mostly dough/batter, drowned in sweet chili so couldn’t taste anything else. Chicken waffles had avocado mash, which didn’t go well with syrup, and fried chicken had unexpected curry taste. So much coleslaw on plates. Iced teas were good & service was great, atmosphere was bright & sunny with beautiful murals, but a few flies kept bothering us while eating. Other reviews are positive & have heard good things, so maybe it was just an off day?

While out and about in South Auckland, we stumbled upon The Alexander Cafe, a hidden gem tucked away in an industrial-style area of Ōtara. From the outside, it’s unassuming, but step inside, and you’ll find a relaxed, welcoming spot that’s perfect for a coffee break. We only had time for drinks, but they did not disappoint. We ordered an Iced Coffee with caramel syrup (no cream) and a Dirty Chai (chai with a shot of espresso) — both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was laid-back, with great music that made it easy to unwind. There’s plenty of seating inside, plus outdoor options for those who prefer fresh air. The menu offers a great selection of food, with a well-stocked cabinet of tempting bites. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Alexander Cafe is definitely worth a visit!

I didn't even know about this cafe, but a friend suggested it to me. Lovely hidden gem in Otara. I didn't actually order any food, but the nachos that some at my table ordered looked amazing. The hazelnut frappe was delicious. It is a beautiful, clean, and spacious cafe.
