“We’ve always enjoyed the high-quality, convenient daytime meals at Sushil’s Musclechef, but our first evening dining experience was something genuinely special. The evening service offers a more intimate and refined atmosphere, paired with a thoughtful menu that highlights Sushil’s unique culinary identity—blending cultural heritage and modern flavour in a way that feels deeply personal and original. We started with the pumpkin soup with coconut, rich and comforting, and the smoked chicken Caesar salad, fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. The mains were outstanding: the braised lamb shank was melt-in-your-mouth tender, infused with bold, soulful flavour, while the market fish was perfectly cooked and delicately seasoned. Dessert was a highlight—the chocolate fondant, with its warm molten centre and vanilla bean ice cream, was pure indulgence. We ended the night with extra hot oat flat whites, smooth and perfectly made. While the daytime menu brings quality and convenience, the evening experience feels crafted, personal, and elevated—a reflection of Sushil’s passion for food and hospitality. “Not one to google reviews often, but I highly recommend this place! Great beer, chilled out atmosphere and the staff were super friendly. The food was great and had a great time. So a well deserved 5 star review which don't come often from me. Oh and it’s dog friendly! Huge bonus points!”

“Always a good cuppa from Aloha. We usually like getting either a cappucino or hot choccy or both. This place consistently does a beautiful hot choccy - the best I’ve had in Porirua. Also recommend trying the salted caramel donut in their cabinet - its divine! They also allow you to byo cups and have their own mugs for you to use to help with waste. To top it off, the cafe doubles as a small gallery that sells beautiful jewellery snd homeware.”

“Amazing experience for our Valentine's Day date! The set menu was excellent value and a stunning range of flavours. Good service and cozy atmosphere. Our only minor constructive feedback is we weren't aware of the set menu until we arrived. It wasn't an issue for us, however being proactively informed beforehand would have been appreciated :-). Thanks for an excellent meal - we'll be back!”

“The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Their coffee is seriously good, some of the best I've had. I go pretty regularly, and they already know my order which is awesome. I haven't tried the food yet, but it always looks so tempting. Definitely recommend checking this place out!”

“Probably the friendliest staff of any cafe in the country. They're always bubbly and ready for a good yarn. The monthly changing scones and overnight oats are , 11 times out of 12, excellent , the olive lover(s) might say 12 out of 12. Good banter, excellent coffee and not a bad location either.”

“Dined here for the first time and it was absolutely delicious! My friend and I got a medium big chicken pizza to share and it was so good! The place was very popular and the counter staff were friendly. Only downside to the experience was when I ordered a lemon meringue cheesecake and it was served to me still frozen so I had to have it takeaway, also we ordered garlic bread but they didn’t have any . Would definitely go back for the pizza though!”

“Millar and Mary absolutely stand out women. I felt I was quite demanding as we arrived, and we had a few issues while there. Nothing but accommodating. I also noted an issue with our lane company, which was promptly fixed. My husband and I hadn't been on a date in a long time. This place made me want to go again. The staff should be highly recommended on their performance. Incredible! We'll be back when the beers are allowed to flow again!”

“We booked for our daughter’s birthday dinner with a group of 9 and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely table with a fantastic view of the water and the staff even offered to keep our cake in the chiller until after our meal. The food was delicious and the portions were more than adequate with everyone stuffed at the end. We ordered the bao buns which had a lovely little chilli kick to them, and Korean fried chicken was an absolute favourite as was the pita with roast pepper hummus which was so delicious. We were even able to take leftovers home with us which was an added bonus! Can’t wait to come back.”

“Columbus coffee is a great spot when no it's raining. With an adjacent playground for the kids, you can grab a nice coffee while they play. A bowl of chips for them to snack on makes the experience even better. Then have a wander through Mitre 10 for your gardening and diy needs.”

“Woke up like a bag of shit this morning and needed my coffee fix to get me right. Popped by majestic cafe in the mall and not only is the coffee good but the lady that served me actually made my morning. Made me feel seen, heard and valued as a customer. The difference between me going to a different cafe and majestic will be that kind of service experience. That double shot really got me going for the day haha bless”

The food was delicious with really generous portions, and everyone commented on how consistent it was given the size of our group. The Christmas crackers and table settings were a really nice touch too. It was a fantastic night - highly recommend :)”
