“Don't be fooled by the cheap price! This is an A+ course. 2 x 5 hour sessions ( or 1 x 5 hour session if you cant lay aside the whoel weekend ) of full contact self defence. Charlie walks the line tactfully between providing some physical stress to somewhat mimic a real life situation and being understanding that people will bring a range of experiences to the course. I did this with my 13 year old daughter who now has the skills and attitude to survive if the worst happens. She loved the course and it was a great bonding weekend for us. Highly recommend!”

“First and foremost the educators at Magic Kingdom in Blockhouse Bay are the most wonderful, genuinely caring nurturers. My little ‘pandemic baby’ had a total of three play dates before starting daycare at 11 months old and they made they transition for him (and me!) a positive and stress free experience. The core values and beliefs of Magic Kingdom align to my own as a parent, and knowing that my child is receiving a quality education based on those principles is important. I feel that the educators are just as invested in my child’s growth as a whole person, as I am. “I have followed the IOAI for many years and watched the Institute develop into an all round - open minded club that throws politics out the door and lets students learn at their own pace and their own competent level no matter what style they practice in their own dojo. I have brought a few of my own students to his seminars that are packed with so much information and training ideas from some very high tier instructors who are more than willing to help out any and all visitors. Head instructor Sensei Dunken Francis is not afraid to pressure test any techniques and look at cross-training with other styles, something not often found in the dojos with old style attitudes. “Both our tamariki have been at BestStart Tawa, so we've been with the centre for over 7 years now. We absolutely love the teachers and staff who all show so much love and care for the tamariki and the whole whanua! The team do an amazing job, work together as a cohesive unit and are very adaptable. There are great resources for the tamariki and the food that is provided is such good quality and delicious. Everyone is so tamariki focuse, and there is a real emphasis on building relationships with the whole whanua. We've loved our time here and are so fortunate for the relationships built. “I suffer from really bad back pain and hip pain after my car accident. I was struggling to walk without crying, I was struggling to do basic tasks, as simple as cleaning my house. I just couldn't take it anymore and thought to try pilates. “My daughter went there, and she says that it’s the best piano class she’s gone to so far. The piano teacher is super nice and will literally teach you anything if you ask him. He is also super talented, for example- my daughter asked him to teach her a song in a easier way, and the next thing I knew she was playing one of her favourite Japanese songs. She is very lucky to have such a talented musician.”

“Wonderful physio clinic. Kendall and her team are experienced in a wide range of treatments and I have recieved excellent care.A long term plantar fascia tear has been resolved and I am walking freely again. Injuries from a fall also attended to with good results.”

“The first thing I want to say is how lucky I was to make the right decision. My son is three years old, and before that I visited a lot of places and did a lot of research. I knew a little bit about the environment before I came here and courses are great. I didn't expect too much for the teachers to be so friendly and responsible. For me, the feelings and experiences of children are more important than anything else. Because my son has not attended any day care before, his native language is not English, and his grandmother often takes care of him went back home for a period of time, which makes me worried about whether he will adapt to the new environment. All teachers, the front desk staff and the centre manager all understood my concerns and cooperated with each other to help my son to adapt faster and better. After two weeks transiting,my son is happy to stay and not crying after we drop him off. I am really grateful to the teachers there and this is the most responsible place I have encountered. They will understand the parents' thoughts and concerns, and work together, everything is for the sake of the child. Hope my son will have a wonderful journey in kakapo creek.”
