“Great little pit stop about a half hour north of Christchurch. Home style food, lovely staff, great BLT, good coffee.”
“Black Betty Café offers generous portions at reasonable prices, and the service is impressively quick. It’s a fantastic spot for brunch. I especially recommend the Eggs Benny—the house-made hollandaise is delicious. A cozy café that’s perfect for a quick catch-up.”
“There are heaps of great restaurants here. I went with a burger this time, but it was a tough choice with so many good options. I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other places later.”
Hello Sunday runs with a burger‑led menu and an easy pace. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down. Fries and sides round things out neatly. There’s always a considered veg choice. The team k...
“My partner and I came here twice for brunch, the first time we both had granola, fruit, and yoghurt (pictured) and it was really good. The second time we had the zucchini fritters (also pictured) which was amazing and tasty. We also ordered lattes which was a nice, strong hug. The service was also great, the cafe is the busiest place in town but there's no shortage of very friendly staff.”
Rock-It Kitchen leans into a coffee‑and‑cabinet approach without the fuss. Outdoors works when the weather plays along. Grill work shows a clean sear and rested meats. Eggs land on point and toast keeps its crunch.
“Friendly staff, good food and it's a vibe. Plenty of seating and the food was out in good time. The kids enjoyed coloring in as well.”

“Best wine tasting I've been to - the staff is incredibly knowledgable and I learned a ton! Not to mention their wines taste great. I can't compare this winery to any of the others on Waiheke as it was the only one we were able to go to after our flight was cancelled, causing a delayed start to our day. The manager, Rory, was incredibly understanding with our potential lateness. Staff was attentive during our time with them, food was delicious, beautiful scenery. Will definitely return if we're able to make it back to Waiheke someday! Also they have a very cute winery dog :)”

“I'm from Texas originally and moved to Ohio, and when I tell you this was on par and better than a lot of Mexican food from Texas I'm not trying to fool you. I just got off a 19.5 hour flight and took a shower and was looking for something to eat. Found this place and had the fish tacos and lamb tacos and my goodness, I thought I was happy just making it to New Zealand, if the food is anywhere as good as this place I'm going to be willfully much lighter in my wallet. So good”
“Went in yesterday for a burger and fries and honestly was so surprised at how much I loved the food. I had a dirty something smash burger and my partner had the spicy chicken burger; both were so tasty and good value for money. Wanted to bring my sister who was fresh off a flight but didn’t make it before closing, will be coming back next time we’re in Auckland for sure Lady who worked there was so so nice too, would recommend”
“Delicious food. Consistently good. Friendly service. Value for money. Generous portions. Love the hollandaise sauce. Great coffee. Our family favourite!”
“We've been here twice in the last month, and had a great meal each time. The new owners are really friendly and nice, and the bar has a nice coast atmoshere. On the Halloween night they had a dress up session with prizes, and Nelly was perfect as an Angel. The food is all great. I highly recommend the pizzas and the steak. Both are excellent. If I had to make one improvement suggestion, it would be to perhaps get a a wider range of craft beers. But generally this is a great place that I highly recommend.”
“We found this hidden gem by accident. The food was incredibly good and the ingredients were clearly fresh. Wow”

“Loved the presentation of food, quick service and great prices. Also so accomodating with a guest that couldn’t eat dairy or gluten so you created a one off dish for her. That was above and beyond. Thank you for a great time.”
“Great food from super friendly staff. The food was delicious and satisfying. Exactly what I hoped for. These guys are worth visiting.”
“Best chorizo tacos in NZ. A must try, especially because they make their tortillas in house.”
“The breakfast resembled a classic English breakfast, and the mocha had no sugar residue, which was great. The host was lovely too. Overall, it was a perfect 10 out of 10 experience. And he was wearing a football shirt, so more, better”
“Very cool vibe, spacious and authentic, these are the words is choose due Hataitai's cool new micro-brewery. With a little range of other beers to compliment their own Pale Ale, beer snobs and their friends will all be satisfied. Yummy snacks keep you going as the evening sun encourages you to stick around longer. Go here and enjoy seeing the club evolve and grow.”
At Burger Plant, the menu stays classic fish-and-chips, served with an easygoing pace. Meat‑free options are woven into the menu. A sensible spend for the quality. Packaging keeps things crisp on arrival.
“A hidden gem! Have popped in a few times while over this side of town and am always very pleased. Vibrant atmosphere and lovely decor. Very friendly and efficient staff. Lots of options for hot and cold food. Great prices and portion sizes. Food is always fresh, beautiful and delicious. Highly recommend!”
“I ordered two BBQ plates after reading such enthusiastic reviews, and it was absolutely the right choice. The portions were incredibly generous and I had no trouble demolishimg my own serving which even came with two lamb chops instead of just one- a great bonus if you ask me. The staff were also exceptionally kind and welcoming, which truly topped off an already fantastic dining experience at Wicked Five Spoon Takeaways.”
“Vegetarians and Vegans rejoice, this place gives you real choice for lunch or dinner. No longer restricted by salads and cooked veges, this place provides burgers, stir frys and proper meals that are filling and most importantly delicious. Within the Press Hall food centre, this place establishes a refreshing alternative to other more regular options in the hall. The service is fast and efficient, the staff are friendly and there is allot of aroha that had gone into the dishes. The Smoky Seitan burger is fantastic with a bean curd based patty that is a great alternative to the usual beef patty. It is also packed with fresh vegetables which makes the burger very satisfying yet not stodgy at all. It's quite possibly my new favourite place for lunch in Wellington and yes I am not vegetarian or vegan. Just "Keep Calm and Eat Plant-Strong".”
“Super yum Waggu burger. Mine had the vegan bun and cheese (melted beautifully) which was fantastic for me being dairy free. The wedges and fries are also a very generous portion and the drink was perfectly chilled. Great service.”
“I especially love the donuts! They are freshly made on-site. Yummy!”
“Great food, can get very busy. Good vegan options.”
