“We visited in March of this year. The owner and his wife are in the silver age of leisure. I was treated to wine and talked for about 3 hours in the garden. lovely evening. It seems that the husband often came to Japan because of dairy products. It is difficult to take care of the vast garden you are proud of by yourself. There are actually 2 guest rooms. This is the bedroom only. The kitchen and living room are shared with the owner. So I wonder if self-catering is a little inconvenient. Breakfast was prepared by Madam. I was able to catch a glimpse of the ideal retirement life that I should envy.”

“Fabulous place to stay, a home away from home. So many little extra touches, beautiful room, incredible gardens, immaculate property. Only stayed a couple of nights but hosts Jon and Shirley couldn't have been more welcoming in every way. Was sad to say goodbye!”

“Don't let outside of the front building put you off. Our room was clean and quite large for what we paid for it was 130 per night and had a great city view! Manger was super friendly and the location is super handy to town. If your on a budget i recommend this motel!”

“I stayed 2 nights whilst on a cycle trip and it was ideal for my needs. I had been a little concerned staying in the city alone but the owners made me feel safe and the camp has good policies around access etc. My non powered site was great with shade near facilities. Would certainly stay again”

“Me and my mom really enjoy this experience. We had a good time with these alpaca. The room is clean and there is breakfast in the refrigerator. When we arrived, we were also told that an alpaca named Bobby could kiss us, It was so cute!! Plz bring some bread and feed these alpha if u want.”

“Little slice of heaven!!! We spent the night at Oak Lane Lodge. What an enchanting house and an incredible garden with the most beautiful trees. If you are looking for a house full of period character features and a quiet getaway, I would highly recommend Oak Lane Lodge. Sue and Gary were fantastic hosts and could not spoil us enough. The food was outstanding, the rooms and bathrooms clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable. We would def be visie again!”

“One of the best places to stay in this area. I've have been a number of times and my mum has been staying here a few times a month for years for her work. They are very accommodating and quick to bring you something like extra towels. Their pool is under cover and is usually tepid. The rooms are clean and relatively new. They are also in the process of upgrading the bathrooms in all of their rooms. The owner is one of the loveliest people to deal with, she makes you feel welcome and as if nothing is a problem. My mum has back and knee problems sometimes so the owner would switch out dining room chairs with her own ones. You don't get this kind of service from many places.”

“Love this place would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. The room we stayed in was nice and warm and it had everything you need in the kitchen. Its affordable and the manager was even up late to wait for us to check in as we were travelling from Auckland. Love how there was another room inside with two singles for those who wants a quiet and peaceful sleep and a double in the main lounge if u wanna watch tv. My husband and I will love to come here again. And our parking was right in front of our room even more better. Thank you”

“Didn't stay, just visited. Lovely people, welcoming, will go the extra mile. Rooms are what you'd imagine in a fairy tale! Pretty, luxurious, lovely colours, sumptuous looking beds, bathrooms amazing. Rex is a fantastic cook, dinning room looks out to front, main road, lounge with comfortable sofa & chairs, fire place, decor rich & colorful, situated in middle of house with doors to a veranda for outside relaxing. This is a lovely old Villa, high ceilings, long entrance hallway with decor to match & Linda's art work gracing the upper walls. If you want something different than modern, this is it! They have regulars visiting, & even folk who work for a while in the area will live there. Enjoy.”
