“Excellent staff great atmosphere, nice place to have an ale”
“Great boozer, good service. Pokies don’t pay though”
At Cobb at the Railway Station, the menu stays classic fish-and-chips, served with an easygoing pace. Sides support without crowding the star. Pricing lines up with the offer. Portions are generous yet well judged.
On the plate at Mornington Taphouse, the idea is classic fish-and-chips and well executed. Noodles arrive glossy and well seasoned. Meat‑free options are woven into the menu. Pricing lines up with the offer.
The kitchen at Valley Lodge Bar & TAB takes a simple, bistro-style path and lets the food speak. Views add a quiet lift to the visit. Service stays present without fuss. Portions are generous yet well judged.
“The Law Courts Hotel is a lucky find for us and anyone else who wants to camp in the middle of Dunedin. Perfectly located a couple of hundred metres from the Octagonal. Surrounded by any number of great cafes, restaurants, shopping, museums and event centres. An added bonus is the pub style restaurant which is part of the bar downstairs. Well priced (we were initially attracted by a special deal) the lower levels have just undergone a major renovation with updates planned for rooms ahead. Due this, I rate the room as a 4 star with a dated shower but superking bed was comfortable and new. Establishment well managed and maintained. Highly recommended. This is our new favourite downtown overnight stop. P”
The kitchen at Dunedin Social Club takes a grill-focused path and lets the food speak. Sides support without crowding the star. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Portions are generous yet well judged.
“An incredible bar that mixes the excitement of doggin with the class and style of a cocktail bar!”
