This regional park on the peninsula used to belong a historic farm estate. It has a quiet beach with super clear water. Oystercatchers, dotterels, Canada geese, paradise ducks, kingfisher and Tuis hang out here, and playing along the water. There are a few loop walks nearby too, while we were walking, we spotted a shining cuckoo! Follow these paths, and we got amazing views of the nearby islands. Such a lovely walk!

Stunning regional park. Can book beach front accommodation through Auckland Regional Council

I had the whole park to myself at 7.30 am this past weekend. So peaceful glad I did this before the rain came. I’d been here before, at the homestead. Couldn’t hike due to incorrect footwear. Couldn’t find my boots. Boots definitely needed after the tail end of winters weather:

A lovely reserve - beautiful and peaceful with easy walks and seascapes. Very interesting historical farm. Basic visitors infrastructure, lots of parking.

Magnificent sheltered cove. Great swimming and walking tracks. Three baches on the beach can be booked for stays through the Auckland Council website Check out the old Scandrett Homestead next to the carpark. It contains some nicely curated information on the Scandrett's family's 160 years of living and farming in the area.

Beautiful ride from Snells Beach. Hills of course but manageable. Roads are nice and quiet.

This is a beautiful place!!! We spent three wonderful hours walking on the beach and looking at the historical buildings with interesting videos accessed by QR codes at each building narrated by Joan Scandrett.

Gorgeous views, great place for families. Quiet and peaceful. Beach is shallow for a long way so really good place for less confident swimmers. White sand with shells, good for kids shell hunting. Rock pools are good for sealife exploring.
