“I am really impressed by this Pet Insurance provider. My boxer has had cancer among other illnesses that have required major surgery. My Huntaway Cross suffers from a skin irritation that requires expensive prescription drugs. The process is easy. Complete the forms, get the vet to complete their forms, email off to PetPlan and presto the claim in lodged. It takes them less than two weeks to assess. Having this insurance is invaluable and well worth the monthly payments. I have peace of mind knowing that I can afford to get the medical attention that my dogs need without worrying about the cost. 08/2019 Just had to use my insurance again for my Huntaway X and again I paid my $100 excess and the claims were accepted and paid out within one week of submission. They are true to their word, the staff are truely real professional people with a focus of taking on any burden to bring relief and aid in supporting you during difficult times. I had my first vehicle accident where our family truck was written off. I was shaken up, in shock and disbelief and emotional! I made one phone call to tower and everything from there changed for our family from heartbreak to abundently blessed. Even though I was not in a good state, Neha and the team had compassion, understanding, and basically fixed everything for us! Neha supported me over the phone with kindness, she reviewed our policies and within a day, she made arrangemments for us of our vehicle to be taken for assessment, followed up on the police report and photos from the accident and a rental car for 2 weeks booked, paid for and ready for pick up. “The default insurance at the University of Canterbury is the Studentsafe policy, provided by Allianz. I had a very positive experience with it over several years. Most of my medical claims were accepted without any issues, which gave me peace of mind during my studies. When I first arrived in New Zealand, I didn’t have a car, so I invested in a brand new, high-quality Giant bike along with top-tier accessories. Unfortunately, they were stolen about a year later. Thankfully, Studentsafe covered a significant portion of the loss, which I really appreciated. One claim that was declined involved belongings that were stolen from my car overnight. I had solid reasons for leaving them in the car, and they were placed out of sight—in the boot and on the back seat, where the windows were tinted. It wasn’t due to negligence. However, I was informed that the policy clearly states items left in a vehicle overnight are not covered. I appealed the decision internally, but it was dismissed. I then requested a "Deadlock" Letter so I could have the matter independently reviewed by the Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO), and they granted one. Although the outcome wasn’t in my favour, I appreciated that Studentsafe gave me the option to pursue the complaint externally—something not all insurers are willing to do. There used to be a question on the claim form asking how many claims you had made previously, which I found concerning at the time, but fortunately, that section has since been removed. Overall, I found the Studentsafe policy reliable, transparent, and supportive when I needed it most, and I would recommend it to other international students.”
