“Caesar salad was so fresh and DELICIOUS especially with the option of chicken -much more filling. My partner ordered the BLAT and they catered to his dietary requirements without a fuss. Staff are lovely and the area is vibrant.”
“Nice n clean place to do grocery shopping with knowledgeable happy checkout operators.”
“Excellent Service! Very nice guy at the counter too!”
“Great little Four Square with really friendly staff. Thanks guys! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales”
“Good service with a great selection.”
“It wasn't too busy, food was presented well and tasted so good. Coffee was piping hot and delicious. Didn't have fresh fruit juice only bottled juices.”
“Looking for a breakfast place around takapuna after a pedia visit and tried Leaf & Loaf. Overall experience is excellent and lively, friendly staff. My fussy little one loved the blueberry pancakes. The rest of the food are awesome. Though I prefer boiling hot coffee but with the weather, it's acceptable food gets a little cold quicker. Highly recommend this place.”
“Very friendly and pretty good prices, a mention of note, when times were hard like during covid this shop was giving people free food to help its community, they are always busy restocking the shelves, and the other shoppers are super friendly and kind. I guess you reap what you sow, keep it up.”
“Cypress Cafe in St. Heliers is a regular stop for us whenever we are in the area. Their food and hot drinks are particularly enjoyable to us. Moreover, the jazz piano melodies playing in the background complement the atmosphere impeccably.”
“These guys do great pies & is a very popular spot with the locals. Their Jalapeno steak & cheese was awesome, just the right amount of kick to it.”
“This authentic Chinese food restaurant on Dominion Road may not have the most inviting look and feel, but the food speaks for itself. My fiancée and I decided to try it out before heading to Eden Park to watch an All Blacks game. We ordered Taro Balls, Dry Noodles with Peanut Sauce (large size), and Dumplings with Spicy Sauce (medium size). The portions were generous and perfect for two people, and the prices were quite reasonable. The Taro Balls, in particular, were exceptionally well-fried and delicious – highly recommended! The peanut sauce noodles were also tasty, with ample portions that we thoroughly enjoyed. The dumplings, while similar to those at other Chinese restaurants, were still quite good. Overall, this restaurant provided us with a satisfying dinner. Highly recommended for anyone who loves Chinese food.”
“Love the place for relaxing...time out place to meet friends and have a beer and chat...thumbs up..no problem...”
“This restaurant serves tasty food that both my husband and I enjoyed. Hunan food is very spicy but they happily toned it back for my husband, who can't handle too much chilli. The menu is very porky but I don't like pork so we tried various other options instead. The smelly tofu entree was suitably pungent and came topped with hot chilli. It was too hot for my husband but just right for me so I hoovered it all up. We also had hot and sour pickled radish, dong 'an chicken and stir fried chicken. All were lovely. The owner was friendly and interested to know what we thought of the food given we were the only non Asian patrons. The only negative - and it's not a big deal - is that the owner was busy in the kitchen when we arrived and it took quite a while before she noticed us standing at the counter. But we didn't mind too much and would happily eat there again.”
“We had a wonderful meal at Dokeyi Hot Pot. The $18.80 special is incredible - the lamb soup and the BBQ lamb was tasty, and it included rice and a drink! Excellent value and delicious food. Highly recommend”
“I came here like 20 years ago and I am so surprised it still here! I lived in Hastings now and their food still as good as last time! Good customer service and still pretty cheap price compared to Hamilton yum char price!”
“Loved our meal at Black Petes last night, excellent value for $$$, beautifully presented, friendly staff. Highly recommended.”
“Exceptional kebabs and always good service. Good meat to salad ratio”
“First time trying out this place and definitely will come back! Their cumin lamb noodles had amazing flavour and cooked perfectly. The highlight was the jelly noodles served in a delicious sauce. The staff was also very friendly! Highly recommend”
“Just moved here, and I got suggested this place. What a setup. Really love it. Very spacious, workers are awesome to talk to, and the local people that I spoke to are very social. Good vibes. Was told to try their pizza and hot dog, so I did. - Brownzy dog 7.9/10 2 for $5 is great value. They're not spectacular. However, they're perfect while watching live sports and are arranged quite well. Delicious to eat. - Meat lovers pizza 7.5/10 $10 isn't too bad too, good size to share. At this point, I was a bit drunk and vacuuming the whole thing to sober up, but it was good for a bar snack. Prefer the brownzy dogs over this.”
“Excellent food, has been consistently good and minimal (10-15min) wait for fresh cooked dishes”
“I came here last night and ordered the potato fritters, fish and chips along with the sweet and sour pork which was really fresh and tasted like a authentic Chinese taste. Both the fried foods were also on point as they were fresh and crunchy”
“I like this concept of choosing your own meat, vegetables, sauces, spices, etc, and having it cooked on the big hot plate. It's pretty easy to navigate, even if it is trial and error with the combination you've made up. Separate hot food is available as are salads and other side dishes. Dessert is great, they make really good pancakes, with different sweet sauces to accompany and an assortment of ice creams and toppings. The lady serving was very accommodating and friendly. The buffet dinner was $33.90 per adult. Enjoyed our dinner here in the relaxed atmosphere and would definitely recommend Gengis Khan New Lynn.”
“Absolutely, the best fish and chip takeaways.I've had in a long time, good prices in great food highly recommend to come and try,”
“The place is just a replica of BBQ nation outlet in India. First they serve you all the BBQ dishes (Unlimited) like Chicken, fish, prawn, pineapple and Kumara. They also serve fried fish and potato with sause. You can then go ahead and enjoy the buffet food which has Indian and continental dish (just one). Overall the experience was very amazing and great service. The food was delicious and restaurant beautiful ambient set up gives a very relaxed atmosphere while enjoy the soft music in background. But expensive but worth a try. Good for family and big groups. Try for Groupon voucher to get a good deal and save some bucks.”
“Cheap beers, friendly locals and staff and the pokies where fun”
“If you’re looking for a spot in South Auckland that delivers bold Mediterranean flavors, laid-back vibes, and a complete dining experience, Eastern Grill in Manukau is one place that absolutely deserves your attention. Tucked away in the heart of Manukau, Eastern Grill offers much more than just a meal—it’s an experience. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with the grilled meats, and baked bread instantly whetting your appetite. The menu is packed with Mediterranean staples and crowd-pleasers. Whether you’re after a plate of crisp falafel, or creamy hummus paired with fresh, fluffy pita bread, you’re in for a treat. Their lamb is a standout—slow-cooked, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, wrapped in soft flatbread or served over rice. The chicken skewers are also incredibly tender, and the garlic sauce? Smooth, garlicky bliss. But what really sets Eastern Grill apart is what it offers beyond the plate. They have a relaxed outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying the warm evening air with friends or family. The vibe is social and unpretentious, making it a great place to hang out for a while. Adding to that, Eastern Grill serves alcohol, so you can enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine alongside your meal. And if you’re after a more chilled, social experience after dinner, they’ve got hookah (shisha) available in a range of different flavors—a popular touch that really brings out that traditional Middle Eastern lounge vibe. Whether you’re into fruity flavors like grape, mint, or apple, or something more exotic, there’s something for everyone. The staff are friendly, attentive, and more than happy to make recommendations if you’re not sure what to try. Service is quick, and portions are generous—great value for the quality and quantity of food you get. Whether you’re catching up with friends, going on a casual date, or just after a solid meal in a relaxed setting, Eastern Grill delivers on all fronts. It’s the kind of place you go once and immediately add to your regular list.”
