“Fantastic Sunday lunch stop after a day in the city. I had 20 chicken and leek dumplings, all I could eat, and change from $20. Highly recommended!”
“Authentic food, excellent decor, and great service. Sunny Town makes their dumplings fresh and in the open where you can observe. They also have an open kitchen. The food is delicious, with the perfect mix of spices. Definitely order the steamed dumpling, pork or vegetables as both are yummy. The spicy dumplings are not for everyone, but our daughter loved them. We loved the bamboo interior with comfortable seats. The service is prompt and friendly.”
“Good number of vegetarian options, which is great. The items we tried were delicious. Friendly owner/operators. Highly recommended and will be back to try more of the vegetarian options.”
“Really great fish and chips. Chips portion was huge and the fish was a big piece with a very crispy and crunchy batter. Like "tell your friends" level fish batter.”
“Delicious food at very reasonable prices. The lady boss is extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve read some comments saying the restaurant wasn’t clean or organized, but in my opinion, the owner has been taking very good care of the place. They took over from the previous restaurant, Love a Duck, which was honestly terrible. Since then, the improvement has been huge. For me, there’s no doubt this is one of the best Asian cuisine spots in the area.”
“Golden Castle (황금성) has undergone changes since its previous name and management, so we decided to visit and see what’s new—and we were pleased with our experience! We booked a table for six on a Friday night, and despite the busy hours, service was quick. The staff were attentive to our requests and questions, and the food arrived promptly—within 10-15 minutes, even during peak time. We mostly ordered large plates to share, and there was plenty to go around. Our go-to dishes did not disappoint: the spicy chilli garlic chicken (깐풍기), sweet and sour pork (탕수육), Jjamppong (짬뽕)—a must-try for seafood and spice lovers—Jangban Jjajang (쟁반짜장), perfect for sharing, especially with guests new to Korean cuisine, and Ohyang Jokbal (오향족발), flavourful five-spice pig’s feet. The portions were generous and satisfying. Whether you’re already a fan of Korean cuisine or looking to try it for the first time, Golden Castle is a solid choice and well worth a visit!”
“Typical Chinese fast food restaurant. Their spicy chicken noodles was delicious. The large portion was really large and could be for sharing. Otherwise, you can eat it alone and be really full. Lamb soup was also tasty. They have fine texture of noodles, which can be substituted by glass or thin noodles. Prices are affordable and very generous servings.”
“The dish is delicious The noodle soup is rich and salty properly done The portion is huge so the noodles start bouncy and chewy and getting sotfer and melting through out the meal The chef is professional and friendly Overall very good experience The price is very good compare to the dish size Highly recommended”
“The restaurant has been renovated and looks a lot modern. We ordered the Deep fried dough sticks with soy bean milk, Changsha stinky Tofu, Taiwan braised beef noodles, Spiced noodle with spicy beef and Saliva chicken. All very tasty and great value. The only downside for this area is the lack of parking”
“Staff there are very friendly. I like the choices and flavor of food there. They also give you free rice or drink if you spend over $25 and sometimes free cucumber salad. The interiors is a lot nicer now after the recent renovation.”
“The roast duck is the best in the town, and i also like the “wok hey”of the beef noodles. The staff over there are very friendly too, highly recommended!”
“Went in for a light lunch. The dim sum was very nice. Food was fresh and tasty. Staff was friendly.”
“A Hidden Gem on Dominion Road We’ve passed by Spicy House countless times and finally decided to step in – and what a delightful decision it was! This small restaurant has its unique charm: it’s compact, bustling, yet incredibly well-organized. Despite the busy atmosphere, the efficiency and attentiveness of the staff stood out. There were five staff members at the front counter, ensuring every request was promptly addressed and tables were swiftly cleaned and turned over for the next guests. One of the most striking aspects of Spicy House is its diverse clientele. It’s arguably the only Chinese restaurant in Auckland where you’ll find more non-Chinese customers than Chinese, which speaks volumes about its broad appeal and the quality of its food. Speaking of the food, it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the beef was particularly noteworthy – tender and perfectly cooked. Each dish we tried was a testament to the culinary skills of the kitchen staff. The prices are reasonable, offering great value for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, our experience at Spicy House was fantastic. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout on Dominion Road. We will definitely be back to enjoy more of their delightful offerings. Highly recommended!”
“Ordered : Mapo Tofu (vegan), Kung paw Chicken and rice ($2.5/ bowl) Good quality and quantity for the price. Mapo Tofu - Order max spice level. Good quantity spicy Sichuan pepper. Simple loved it with rice. Kung paw chicken - more of peanuts than chicken but flavour taste. Loved peanuts as it had a sweet taste but no Sichuan pepper. Not too spicy as Mapo Tofu.”
“BBQ Noodle House offers a fantastic dining experience. Every dish we ordered was delicious, with authentic flavors and generous portions. Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s a great spot for tasty food, fast service, and good value!”
“Service was fantastic, food was even better. We got the sweet and sour pork, Steak fried rice, and chicken chowmein. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the fried rice. Fried rice was definitely our family favorite, and didn't last long. We'll definitely be coming back.”
“The dumplings here are homemade, they are juicy, fresh and delicious, as are the xiao long bao. The pork belly is also a specialty here. There are an excellent variety of foods to choose from, though some dishes like the sweet and sour pork are not as tasty as from other Chinese restaurants. The service is very fast and the restaurant is clean and tidy. However the prices are quite steep without 1st table - $35 for the pork belly and $5 for a small bowl of rice.”
“Wonton noodles are delicious, I eat them every time I came to the mall.”
“Brilliant roast chicken. 8/10 for many dishes I tried. 10 being world class Chinese. So, that’s impressive. Service was very slow but generous and attentive when you ask. Low cost. Definitely recommend.”
“My partner recommended this restaurant for its dry noodles with peanut sauce, so we decided to visit for dinner on Sunday. We ordered the dry noodles with peanut sauce and dumplings (dandan noodles), kkwobarou, and shrimp fried rice. The noodles were delicious as expected! The peanut sauce paired perfectly with the dumplings. We loved it. The fried rice was quite good and generously portioned. Lastly, the kkwobarou, fried with a layer of glutinous rice, was incredibly tasty and sweet. I really enjoyed it! Overall, we had a great dinner here and this place is highly recommended.”
“Exceptional cuisine bursting with flavor. Generous portions are served. Prices range from $18 to $25, but the outstanding quality of the meals makes them well worth the cost. Three of us dined here today and our total bill came to approximately $120. We will undoubtedly return. The team here were friendly and provided good service.”
“This is one of our favourite place for lunch. It is a small place and usually quite crowded. Be early and you will get your table. Though small but sitting was pretty comfortable. Service was friendly and the food was good. The servings were reasonable and the prices were affordable. If you like some simple Chinese food, this may be the place for you.”
“I had the raw beef pho it was absolutely amazing. Huge portion and complimentary spices on the table side to mix things up. The staff had friendly service and I have already started recommending to friends and family. Thank you for running such a great place.”
“It’s once of those hidden gems. No fancy set up/decor, just delicious food, great price point and simple yet friendly service.”
“Second time buying the family tray and it didn’t disappoint. Especially the sweet and sour tasted so good it’s the best sweet and sour I’ve eaten”
“I went here with my boss and coworkers. It’s one of the places my boss recommended. The soup looked really spicy but wasn’t as hot as it seemed, though it still had a nice, tingly heat on the tongue. The handmade noodles varied in thickness and had a chewy, satisfying texture. It was so delicious, I was really impressed! The combination of egg and minced meat was just the right amount. Even though I’m Japanese, I really love these noodles. It’s light on the stomach, so I truly love it! Thank you!”
“big portion, lots flavour very nice place to go”
“OMG, I haven't been here in years but I pre ordered the 2 person special, chicken fried rice, wontons and sweet & sour pork. It was the tastiest Chinese takeaway we've ever had. There was no grease or fat. There is enough food for tomorrow night as well. I will be back!!!”

“The fish is so delicious, the batter is crispy and the fish is fresh. The chips were crispy, not too oily, or over cooked and you can tell it's clean oil. The hot dogs were also delicious and crispy on the outside, not too oily or soggy even with the sauce! My only complaint was $2 chips wasn't a big portion but I get it, chips are expensive. Really yum, we'll be back!”
