“One of the best experiences we have had in NZ. Very sweet and welcoming staff. We wanted to watch the World Series and they played it on any TV we wanted, including offering to set us up on the outside patio with sound. They felt like family - so sweet and lovely.”
“Great atmosphere and staff are amazing. My favourite pub in Matamata”
“The atmosphere is always welcoming, thanks to the great mix of regulars who make it feel like a second home. The bar staff are top notch friendly, quick with a drink, and always up for a chat. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual drink or a night with the pool team, you’re guaranteed a good time!”
“The best pub in Katikati. The locals welcome you with open arms! Awesome outdoor area! Great little pub.”
“To be honest I wasn't expecting much from our stay, expected just a simple night stop with no frills. Rooms and bathrooms were surprisingly kept at a good standard, clean and well maintained. The term "don't judge a book from its cover" very well applies here. Much to add the the hotel is a pet project of the owner to as his goal is to develop an aging hotel and turn it into a must stop motel, so note on further improvements in the upcoming months. To share a funny experience we had our carkeys accidently locked in while unpacking, but the owner/manager Ken went over mountains to help us by calling for help and making sure our stay was fun and pleasant. And to even invite us to Karaoke night at the bar downstairs with the locals which we had a blast with. Final thoughts - I would definitely make sure to make this part of my road trip route the next time I visit NZ. The locals, hotel, and owner all of them made our stop unexpectedly fun and vibrant.”

“Great sports bar tucked away in the turiko industrial aera, awesome service”
“Had a light lunch of three "shared" options. Everything was tasty and I felt good value. Coffee was good but only one cup size option. Service was excellent, some could argue saying the free water could have arrived faster. I give it a 5 as we will go back.”
“Delicious vegan coffee and doughnuts”
“Live music, great food, amazing view.”
“Shared a team work breakfast at this very nice establishment. Everything was perfect, food, service and of course the views.”
“Rayva the bar manager, is what makes this place amazing !!!!❤️”
“The service here is great. I came in last month with a big group and with being unannounced the 15 or so of us were tended to and we'll looked after”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding experience — highly recommended! As a chef myself, I rarely write long reviews, but this place truly deserves it. I’d confidently give it 5 stars for the incredible value we received. The location is just perfect — peaceful, away from the city noise, yet easy to reach. We went for a family dinner- birthday celebration and were pleased to find plenty of parking available, as nearby businesses were closed at that time. The food was plentiful and well-balanced — not an overwhelming menu, but thoughtfully curated. From a chef’s perspective, every dish felt just right. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. One of our little ones accidentally broke a glass, and the team immediately stepped in to clean up and made sure we were comfortable — that kind of service speaks volumes. Overall, one of the best places to dine — whether with family, as a couple, or for a corporate dinner. Beautiful setting, delicious food, and genuine hospitality. Definitely worth visiting again!”
“Food place to go for a beer or 3”

“Came to Matamata with family, who are very picky eaters. When you walk in, the restaurant is split into a kebab shop portion and proper restaurant with double height ceiling with soft ambient lighting. Staff service was very polite, respectful and attentive. We ordered 9 dishes from chicken, to mussells to the vege platter. All of them tasted amazing! Our favourites were the: - Spanish mussells, the flavour of the sauce mixed well with bread. - Lamb cutlets, the Charcoal held well with the scent of the meat. Would recommend anyone to join, from couples wanting a nice dinner date to larger families, as ty have large numbers of seating. Cost is as per menu, not the cheapest in town, not fine dining; worth the price.”
