“I'm vision impaired and struggled to read their menu (Very small print with fancy font). It's very busy and I found it difficult to read what they had. It also says online that they make vegan Mac n cheese etc however when I asked they only had soups and fresh sandwiches, tacos etc. The chipotle taco, soup and sandwich I had on two separate occasions were delicious and the fact they cater for vegans and vegetarians is amazing. Seems alternative eating has gone backwards everytime I visit NZ however this place is amazing.”

On the plate at Black Pearl Cafe, the idea is Thai-inspired and well executed. Curries carry clear spice and warmth. The room sits relaxed with an easy buzz. Team members keep things friendly and on task.

“Best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had!!! Perfectly poached eggs. There was a good selection of breakfast items to choose from as well as some gorgeous cakes/pastries and some pre-made cold sandwiches. The coffee was fantastic. The staff was so friendly. The prices are incredibly reasonable. You have the option of either indoor or outdoor seating. Highly recommend this spot!!”

“Absolutely love the hot mocha at the artisan cafe! The rich, creamy chocolate combined with the perfect amount of espresso creates a deliciously indulgent drink. Superb tasty fillings and the most delicious flaky, melt in your mouth pastry, I’ve tasted in Heretaunga. Great coffee at a very reasonable price too ($5.50 for XL Latte). I’ve also tried dine in - the Eggs Benedict was lovely and great value @$11.50. Super quick service too from this little local family owned/run business. My favourite!!!”

“Don't judge a book by its cover!! The place needs some love visually BUT.. Food was delish and so was the coffee! I had pancakes with blueberries and banana which were chunky and went down a treat, so much so that my toddler took most of them! hubby had eggs bene which got a big thumbs up too :) The lady was so friendly and so patient and kind to my extremely energetic toddler, made the whole trip better meeting her !”

“I was shopping around looking for a bakery to do gluten free cakes for a future event and I came across a review for gluten free items at Frimley Bakery. WHAT? No way! I went there like 7 years ago and I could only get a $9 toastie (good but $9 in 2018). Today they have a whole shelf of GF items and there is savoury and sweet. I got a whole spice loaf for $7.50!!!! It is soft and yummmmmm!”
