    Called in for coffee, short black. Should have known better when the person serving had to ask a couple of times. Arrived in a standard cup half full, awful. Would be nice if places didn't advertise they provide a short black if they cant make them. People like me will denigrate them for not knowing how to behave as a barista and they can continue to serve mediocrity. We live and learn....!

    Fantastic cafe conveniently located near countdown. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Good menu options and pricing is very reasonable. We paid $25 for 2 teas, 2 pies and a muffin. Customer service is great

    Great that they were open on new year's day. Simple cabinet food at budget bakery prices, which is great. The cooked menu items overpriced compared to what you get. Smash avo and egg at $14.90 would normally be a bit fancier. The coffee was yum.

    Fast service and good coffee. Decently priced for a nice outting. Nice area to go to have breakfast. Good cabinet food and sausage rolls and meatballs were so yum, plenty to choose from in the cabinet. Cooked breakfast was super nice and good quality not a long wait either. Few undesirables turned up before we left but hey it’s Hastings. Overall nice place. Will be back.

    I have no hesitation in referring The DAX Cafe to anyone, as the foods made fresh everyday, the service I have received is always the friendliest with smile's, even though they're up at extremely early hours of the morning, yes around the 1am time, (which will explain why the owners seem tired as any of us would be, yet the smiles and politeness never changes) they do that to get the food we all love and return for regularly made, that's made for every customer who frequently visits for freshness and variety. The DAX meals are very generous and always piping hot when served, this is an amazing place to relax, have a chat and to catch up with others, we love this little cafe it's an amazing place to be.     Good prices, all the usual kiwi bakery fare, nice mango lassi, the service is always the standout, lovely people. If you like a strong coffee though, go for the small size, cup sizes are large.

    Wonderful cafe found close to the Hastings CBD. It almost feels like a bit of an oasis with the nice tree shaded outside patio, on a part if the streets where there isn't a lot of greenery. The food was amazing, and certainly hit the spot well... I highly recommend the French toast, which is what I had. My wife had the creamy mushrooms, which she too thoroughly enjoyed. This is definitely a place to consider if you're looking for somewhere for breakfast or lunch in a region full of great eating options.
