“Nice and cozy atmosphere. Food to choose from their menu or cabinets. Good service as well.”
“Delightful little Cafe on good street. I was quite surprised to find a Cafe in this quiet area tucked away from the main street! The iced coffee was delicious, the breakfast we had was good portioned and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the sausage and bacon as they were cooked perfectly whereas some places quite often burn these or are quite oily. The lady was very nice and served us with a smile!”
“Quaint wee place, lovely staff, coffee superb! Will definitely be back ☕”
“Great little pit stop about a half hour north of Christchurch. Home style food, lovely staff, great BLT, good coffee.”
“Popped in this cafe after a long time away from Christchurch. The ownership changed. So did the Italian atmosphere and the furniture looks a bit tired. But the coffee is still good and they have a good and varied selection of cabinet food. Service is impeccable and super friendly.”
“Black Betty Café offers generous portions at reasonable prices, and the service is impressively quick. It’s a fantastic spot for brunch. I especially recommend the Eggs Benny—the house-made hollandaise is delicious. A cozy café that’s perfect for a quick catch-up.”
“The best little cafe for miles. Great coffee, they roast their own, and the food is excellent. Beautiful muffins. The two guys who run the place provide brilliant service. Friendly and cheerful.”
“Our favorite cafe we stopped at on our whole trip. The vibes are cozy, the views of Christchurch are wonderful, and the food and drinks were delicious. 10/10 must stop here.”
The kitchen at Affogato Cafe takes a coffee‑and‑cabinet path and lets the food speak. Cabinet bakes and slices cover a quick stop. Sweets lean classic and not overly rich. A family‑friendly feel comes through naturally.
“Absolutely excellent food at good prices! The inside of the cafe is not super cute but it's worth it.”
“One of our favourite cafes, always friendly, great food and a lovely setting with a big garden.”
“This cafe is absolutely gorgeous! The outdoor seating area is such a treat – you even get a free concert from the local birds! I tried the seafood chowder and the Morning smoothie, and both were amazing. Huge shoutout to Sophie for the super friendly and professional service! This place totally made my day.”
“Oddfellows has consistently good coffee, and a delicious selection of cabinet food. Everything I have tried from here has been fantastic, they never disappoint! Having a gluten free scone or similar baked item would be an asset”
“Yum! Enjoyed my 'chicken eggs benedict' this morning. Staff were also friendly and smiling. A great start to the day :)”
“Had an almond croissant and a long black. The coffee was okay. However, it was a bit bitter so I expect the espresso is overextracted. Price was good as seen In one of my photos The croissant was one of the best pastries I have ever had. It was well sized and every bite was delicious. I have also had their breads before and will say that everything they bake is very high quality and very reasonable in price considering what you get. Overall i would heavily recommend this place.”
Table at Monks Cafe leans into a breakfast‑and‑brunch approach without the fuss. Serve sizes show solid value. Breakfast plates are tidy and satisfying. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy.
At Bunrunners Cafe, the menu stays coffee‑and‑cabinet and no‑fuss. Coffee pours are consistent and well textured. There’s room for an easy weekend brunch. Service stays present without fuss. Wait time...
“Nice place with nice view of Golf course but the menu changed, no Egg royal etc...anymore”
“Boutique coffeeshop tucked in between two tramway lines and a few other landmark venues... Superb coffee.... The biggest croissants that fill an entire plate... Cozy, quaint, casual, soothing tunes, arches and wooden interior adds to the ambience of this petit delight... Two thumbs up!!”

“Lovely food, excellent service and nice calm athmosphare to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. We only had breakfast but I almost wish that I could have had the dinner as the menu looked very good! My compliments to our super cute waitress, who served us with such a delightful manner!”
“Found this little café during our road trip around oxford. The place is charming and well maintained. Was pleasantly surprised by how warm and homely it felt. Sort of going to a friends house for a meal. The place is generous with the portion size and the staff are generous with smiles and hospitality. Would love to go there again. The peach honey bush tea is a must try! its been a day now, and im still daydreaming about the lovely gluten free slice i had. Yum.....”
“What an absolute gem of a find. Definitely will be returning. Wish I'd noticed the speciality flavoured hot chocolates earlier. Great excuse to return! Cinnamon scroll delicious, 4 shot medium long black outstanding.”
“Lovely shop. Busy but coffees were incredibly quick and well presented. Impressive stuff. Food was excellent as well. Edit 2. Another stop at the cafe. Cute to go cups & the barista on the machine is a consistency machine. Props to him. Cafe could use another carpet or two. Something to help with the noise.”

“A lovely atmosphere with with friendly staff and unique decor. There was a great selection of both menu and cabinet foods. Many options had something special that lifted them above standard cafe items. The food was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be back to try more options. It’s wonderful on a sunny day to sit outside and enjoy the calm environment while the children have lots to see. We loved the special glassware for the milkshakes and coffees.”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely outstanding! Purple Weka Café is hands-down one of the best spots in Christchurch. The coffee is consistently excellent, smooth and perfectly made every time. The food is generous, fresh, and full of flavour – real Kiwi-style portions with that homemade feel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with staff who go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Whether it’s a quick coffee, a hearty breakfast, or a relaxed lunch, this place delivers every single time. A true local gem – can’t recommend it highly enough!”
“One of the nicest places in the city for Sunday high tea brunch. French creperie with multiple choices of both sweet and sour French crepes, including some vegan options. There are plenty of suggested options, but you can also go wild and create your own one. Crepes are really amazing, very tasty, good size portions and amazing taste. It’s really great that there is vegan options available, made of buckwheat. If you have not enough of sugar you can finish with a great desert selection. Coffee is slightly bitter and not the best blend , but tea selection is perfect.”
On the plate at Vic's Cafe, the idea is breakfast‑and‑brunch and well judged. Outdoors works when the weather plays along. Eggs land on point and toast keeps its crunch. Service stays present without fuss.
