Nice location by the water but spoilt by the live in backpackers who play loud music and think they own the place, causing a disturbance even when the place is nice quiet vibe with everyone. The place is surrounded by clubs and the music can go on till midnight. You may get some sanity during the day when the french workers are out, it's lovely over the water but you may only get to enjoy the serenity early morning. Hot water takes 10 minutes to come through the showers and then it isnt regulated because the corridores to the rooms are so long, you have to jump under the shower at intervals. There is no smoking area donpeople smoke on the communal verandha. Maybe they could make a communal smoking area. Greeted by loutish music at reception and a music station in the communal area so obviously management prefers the party vibe. Would be nice if the place was neutral as the views are so peaceful.

Stayed here 2 times now and I really have to say: Great Hostel! Good, big kitchen, nice view from the balcony, good rooms, washing machines available. Overall just always a great experience

Hostel was very good and some aspects but there were parts I didnβt like so a bit of a mixed review. Dorms are more on the expensive side compared to what Iβve paid elsewhere throughout NZ but the hostel is very clean and has great facilities and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice sea views from the balcony and close to lots of bars and restaurants. The atmosphere wasnβt great for people backpacking or travelling as the vast majority of people are long term residents, mainly European, working on local farms and they werenβt very sociable and tended to keep to their own little groups.

Me and my girlfriend stayed there for 2 months and it was absolutely fantastic! From the first moment we came in it felt like a good home to stay. Everything was clean, sorted and just perfect. The staff helped you getting a job and in every aspect where you needed help. The location is perfect because you can reach the mount maunganui in 10 min with the bus and you can get to every important corner in tauranga by foot. I will definitely come back to you!

Me and my boyfriend stayed there for 2 months and we loved it. We had a double bedroom in the flat and the room was perfect. We had enough space for our luggage in the closet and a big bed. The small kitchen in the flat was nice and there was everything you need, even salt, pepper and sugar for free. The flat has their own living room with a TV and enough space to sit to watch a movie. There is a terrace too with some benches, which is very cozy for the summer nights to sit outside. The community/main kitchen upstairs had a beautiful view and lots of spaces for everything too. The hostel was always clean and they vacuumed and emptied our trash every day. The people at the reception were super nice and helpful with any problems that we had and tried really hard to help us with everything. You can spend the evening at the waterfront or in the hostel or in one of many bars around the hostel. The next bus station is a 5 min walk from the hostel and can take you to the Mount until the Bayfair mall too. Pak n save is only a 5 min bus right away too in the other direction.

We were very pleased with the quality of the rooms, location and price of the Wanderlust NZ accommodation. The feedback with the managers was top notch from when we first made our booking until our arrival for our stay. We were travelling with a sports team so we had secured the dorm rooms Moana 1 and Moana 2 which was perfect for our party of 15. The adjacent facilities of kitchen and shared bathrooms were more than enough for our purposes. We used Wanderlust as our base and it was fantastic for us to frequent local cafes and bars and the free parking nearby was easy enough to park any vans up. We would definitely recommend this place for larger or small groups where budget and location is a key consideration. Thanks for all your help making our trip to Tauranga an enjoyable experience.

The best hostel Iβve stayed at, friendly staff to talk to. I really enjoyed my stay in Tauranga. Would definitely come back and stay here again. I was here previously and I loved it, it was so relaxing and the guests and staff are so wonderful and friendly. Definitely recommend anyone to come and stay here. One of the best hostel backpackers I have ever stayed.

AgustΓn was really friendly and helpful. He helped me with all the information I needed and explained all the rules of the hostel. Also, the views and the kitchen are amazing. The rooms for 4 people are a bit small but comfortable. I really recommend this hostel.

Best Hostel in New Zeland! I am already traveling since more than 9 months but I have never seen a hostel with this kind of high standards! Very friendly staff, total clean bathrooms, 2 kitchens on 2 floors and also a rooftop terrace. Almost all rooms are located to the seas side, so you always get a nice sea view!

Great hostel, staff, and location. The balcony by the kitchen has stunning views, and there are ensuite bathrooms. You will need to find your own parking though. Will definitely come back if I'm the area again!
