   I booked City Suites very unexpectedly due to a sudden family tragedy. Sadly, our plans changed within two hours as it became too difficult for us to travel, and I immediately contacted the hotel to request a refund on compassionate grounds. Despite sending three separate emails, I never received a response, and no refund was offered. This happened right before Christmas, during an already financially and emotionally difficult time, which made the lack of communication especially upsetting. I understand hotels have policies, but some acknowledgment or response would have gone a long way. Being completely ignored after explaining the circumstances felt very disappointing and uncaring. I would advise others to be absolutely certain before booking, as in my experience there was no flexibility, refund, or reply from the hotel when plans had to change unexpectedly

   Absolutely loved my stay. Lovely room with a welcoming atmosphere. Modern, comfortable and clean. Reception was very accommodating in regards to some of the barriers I had that would have affected my ability to check in if I was staying somewhere else 10/10 rating for me. If I need to book accommodation in Tauranga again, I will be back! Thanks City Suites Tauranga ☺️

   I was very impressed with City Suites accommodation when I stayed there recently. A nice host, who dealt patiently with my lack of technology knowledge. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable, with a lovely bathroom, and a kitchenette with all the necessary equipment. The huge bed was very welcoming, and as soon as my head hit the pillows, I slept like a log until woken by alarm clock in the morning. A big plus was the locked basement carpark, and a lift to help get my luggage to my room on first floor. Not only that, there were also luggage trolleys like at airports, which I've never come across before at accommodation, and both the trolley and lift were a great relief for me as senior lady. Also I felt very safe when I had to go to my car at 11pm for something that I'd forgotten. Another bonus was that it was just a short walk to the Cafe on the Strand for a delicious breakfast and nice view of the sea. I recommend you try them too. All in all I'd love to stay at City Suites again, and highly recommend it to others. It's well deserving of the five stars I'm giving it. Thank you city suites for a very pleasant stay!

   No hot water in shower, currently staying for one night. Crease in bed sheets as walked in, TV remote batteries old, not even replaced… Reception was extremely rude, said she had just finished a 15 hour shift??… As if this is my problem, if you simply do not like your job, LEAVE. Extremely bad place to stay considering we could not even shower….. Do not stay here.

   Great location, easy walk to town. We were lucky enough to get a room on very short notice on a busy night in town. Great staff, super helpful and accommodating with me arriving later than expected. Very basic room inclusions which thankfully do include an iron, coffee/teas and milks. We had wifi, a huge tv which had basic sky options, a balcony and a bath (however no plug). Both Aircon/heating and fans. The room is tired, and smelt odd but that was nothing major. The one issue we did have was the lack of sound proofing between rooms. Unfortunately for us, we were woken throughout the night by a woman on our floor who was yelling/swearing incessantly at her poor wee baby who was also crying.

   Advertising is false. The website says there is a hot tub (there isn’t). I paid via Expedia and the reception staff tried to tell me that the Expedia rate was wrong and I should pay more. Very unhelpful. Wouldn’t stay there again.
