“If you’re ever in Hamilton, I absolutely suggest giving Dr Donburi a try. It’s a fantastic spot that won’t break the bank, with hearty portions and incredible flavors. We tried Teriyaki chicken and Chicken Katsu Donburi. The free-flowing miso soup is a great bonus, and the staff are genuinely welcoming, making the whole dining experience even better. Honestly, it checks all the boxes!”

“I have been wanting to try this place for some time now on my work visits down from Auckland. Glad I finally did, new fav Hamilton restaurant! Service was outstanding, food was absolutely delicious. I had the Turkish meatballs as per wait staff recommendation (I would not normally order this dish first up) and I did not regret it. Portion size was not huge (which I prefer) so room for desert and the baklava and tahini ice cream did not disappoint. You can tell there are some generational recipes being passed down here. Yum!”

Not only were Alpino great to work with to set up how I wanted the experience, on the day they delivered 110%. The food was to die for, service was friendly and efficient. The set menus come with a good variety of starters and mains, and everyone loved what was offered. The restaurant is also split into three dinning areas, so you have a choice of sitting outside or in a more cosy booth. “I absolutely love the chicken Pho here. This is my go to place for that yummy soup. The summer rolls are cheap and look great but they don't have coriander in them so I don't get them. The vietnamese springs rolls are also one of my favourites but I haven't found a good one yet in Hamilton.”

“First visit in this Japanese restaurant in the lunch time. We arrived early and few customers were already inside. This is one of the few authentic Japanese cuisine restaurants in town. As you enter, it seems like you are in Japan, great decorations, long bar featuring traditional customs. Food came quickly, we ordered some chicken karage for our chidren, my wife ordered salmon with salad and me lamen. All tasted fantastically nice, soft rice and well seasoned. Owners are Japanese, that explains much of the quality and precision. Looking for another good experience in the future.”

I order the pork belly hotpot and it was top both. Was so hot(heat) that I felt it had been in a nuclear reactor for a short time but once it had cooled down I could enjoy the full flavours of the dish. The pork belly was delicious and the soup was great too. Plenty of noodles and other well cooked veg. 100% will eat here again. Extremely well priced dishes for the portion sizes. .
