Probably one of my favorite meals Iβve had in Hamilton so far! I got the sashimi donburi and my bestie got the tofu one, every bite was perfect, everything was seasoned well, canβt wait to eat here again. Theyβve also got a good range of beers and wines to enjoy!
Best Japanese and sushi in Hamilton, has been my fav and regular for 5+ years and service and quality is always outstanding. Nigiri is always fresh, sushi rolls are always the same top quality, tempura light and crunchy and karaage or teriyaki always superb. Even the rice is fluffy. Highly recommended.
I had the pleasure of dining at Nami Japanese Restaurant recently, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, whose kindness and attentiveness made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely outstanding β each dish was beautifully presented and full of fresh, authentic flavour. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the preparation, and the ingredients were of the highest quality. Whether it was the sashimi, the grilled items, or the side dishes, everything tasted incredibly fresh and well-balanced. The service was equally impressive. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. They took the time to explain the menu and offered great recommendations based on our preferences. Itβs rare to find such genuine hospitality these days, and it made our time there even more enjoyable. The atmosphere of the restaurant is elegant yet relaxed. The interior design blends modern touches with traditional Japanese elements, creating a peaceful and inviting space. Itβs perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Overall, I cannot recommend Nami highly enough. If youβre looking for a place where excellent food meets top-notch service and a beautiful setting, this is it. I will definitely be returning with friends and family.
This place is a fantastic place to get an authentic Japanese cuisine, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is good and feels a lot like a Japanese Izakaya. We really enjoyed the experience here the mix tempura and takoyaki was really nice. I would say the only downfall of this restaurant was the Japanese curry for the following reasons: The Katsu chicken was quite dry and very thin and we believe that the curry couldβve been made better at home. I wouldnβt let this stop you from enjoying this restaurant though I do believe that the menu could be improved by adding simple Japanese options like a Katsudon or gyudon which are dishes we really enjoyed while being in Japan as well offering more options for Katsu with rice and cabbage.
Have come here on 2 occasions. Had the bento box with sweet beef, teriyaki chicken and the pork ramen. The people I was with had 2 different bento boxes and they enjoyed their food too. The karage chicken is top notch
An atmospheric little cafe with delicious food and very pleasant and sweet staff! The food was fresh and hot and everyone was so kind!
We are here again for lunch as we had such a spectacular lunch yesterday. Our two grandsons are down from Auckland and they are sushi connoisseurs and they think this is better than any Japanese restaurant in Auckland. The boys also loved watching their food being made by the very friendly and talented chef. Highly recommended.
This was the best sushi I've ever had!. The staff was lovely and I had a great time. Service was fast. The food was cheap for something of this quality. The fish tasted very fresh, not frozen and I'm coming back next week for more!
First visit in this Japanese restaurant in the lunch time. We arrived early and few customers were already inside. This is one of the few authentic Japanese cuisine restaurants in town. As you enter, it seems like you are in Japan, great decorations, long bar featuring traditional customs. Food came quickly, we ordered some chicken karage for our chidren, my wife ordered salmon with salad and me lamen. All tasted fantastically nice, soft rice and well seasoned. Owners are Japanese, that explains much of the quality and precision. Looking for another good experience in the future.
