Wowsers cannot speak more highly of this restaurant! Such a beautiful place with top notch service and spectacularly scrumptious food. We ordered the mixed platter, and it was an absolute feast for the senses — a perfect combination of flavours, textures, and presentation. Every element on the board was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The tandoori chicken skewers were succulent, tender, and full of smoky spice, while the crispy pork belly bites delivered that perfect crunch followed by melt-in-your-mouth juiciness. The buttery scallops and freshly cooked tiger prawns added a lovely touch of seafood indulgence, both cooked beautifully to retain their natural sweetness. For a bit of heat and indulgence, the cheesy jalapeño poppers did not disappoint — oozy, golden, and packing a satisfying punch. The platter was rounded out with an array of charcuterie-style items, making it not just a meal, but a full experience that caters to every craving. The lamb shank dish was another true standout — a perfect harmony of flavour, texture, and presentation. The slow-cooked lamb was tender, fall-off-the-bone perfection, infused beautifully with the aromatic blend of rosemary, sage, and thyme. Every bite carried that deep, comforting richness you hope for in a well-executed lamb dish. The sides were just as impressive. The buttered leeks added a delicate sweetness and herbaceous note that balanced the richness of the lamb, while the roast carrot purée provided a silky, slightly earthy contrast. The herb potato rösti tied everything together with its crispy golden edges and soft, fluffy interior — a textural highlight that completed the dish beautifully. Altogether, it was a thoughtfully crafted and beautifully balanced plate, showcasing both skill and attention to detail in every element. A big shoutout to Sadic and Dash, who made our dining experience extra special. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable — the kind of service that makes you feel right at home and eager to return!
This place absolutely blew us away! From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and made us feel extra special. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I'd put in a special request for my husband's favorite dessert crème brûlée - at the time of booking, and the team went above and beyond to make it memorable. They surprised us by bringing it out with a candle and even singing a birthday song! It was such a thoughtful gesture that made the evening extra special. Called in here on the way back from Napier was greeted by a friendly waiter and shown to seat, there were very few seats free which was good to see the place is a big size! I went for the meat lovers with added fresh pineapple it was lovely good quality ingredients. All the staff were friendly and seem like they had lots of regular customers.
Great experience dining here with the family. The place has a nice, welcoming ambiance and the service was attentive without being overbearing. I had the chicken bacon fettuccine and it was excellent—creamy, well-seasoned, and the chicken and bacon flavors blended perfectly into the sauce. Even my 2-year-old enjoyed it! Big shout out to my in-laws for taking us there. The restaurant is easy to find, though parking can be a bit of a challenge since it’s off-street only. Overall, a spot worth visiting for good food and a relaxed family meal.
A great menu and all that we have had so far has been delicious. The roast duck is divine. It is deservedly very popular, so even on a cold, Thursday it was packed. The service is very friendly and attentive, 3 different waiters asking if we need more drinks is maybe a bit much. Still better than the reverse. Great cocktail list, desert menu and easy parking. Looking forward to going back.
Had a really nice lunch at Onyx Cambridge. Started with bread and dips. The bread was delicious with a crunchy crust. Followed by pork belly which was cooked to perfection. Finished with a cheeseboard and a shot of Drambuie. This a high quality restaurant which is popular with the locals and travellers.
I have been visiting here many times. The interior is nice and the food is delicious.
Amazing restaurant. The platter for two is a must, everything is so good. Followed by the wagyu brisket. Will be back to try more dishes
Excellent spot for lunch or dinner. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was well made and appropriately priced. And the establishment was clean. I would recommend going here.
