Seems like Adam, the bar manager at Barrel Inn, makes up his own rules about who gets served, especially if youβre a woman. I wasnβt intoxicated, yet he refused me multiple times. If youβre looking for fair treatment and a good night out, this isnβt the place.
I had the Sunday Roast which comprised lamb and mint jelly, with roasted potato , kΕ«mara, pumpkin together with brΓ³coli , peas and long beans. The meat was ample and tender , the gravy rich, the vegetables not over done but cooked to perfection. At $20 for a small as shown in the photo it was exceptional value and I confess I struggled to finish the plate. I have been before and the large was simply way too much for me. A good selection of tap beers and I chose the Panhead IPA to accompany my meal. Good pub fare not pretentious but tasty and served promptly in good surroundings.
Heard so much about the Steak & Guinness Pie that we had to try it out. Hubby had the large one, me the small. Both did not disappoint and both were ample servings. Flakey puff pastry sealed over the top of a bowl of steaming hot steak filling, served with crispy beer battered chips and a green salad. Tasty and very well-priced. Great pub, awesome staff.
A fantastic local pub. Have been coming for years for the great food, service and atmosphere. Enjoy having a chat with the friendly staff. Lots of screens for rugby, league etc. Would thoroughly recommend.
Great food, love there pizza, has a nice thin base full of flavour, service good, would like to try there other dishes next time
Great place in Howick for a drink and a meal. Staff are friendly and great atmosphere. Parking is plentiful around the premise. They have various specials for different days of the week. Particularly love their Steak Night on Thursdays. Generous servings and very well priced. Ask for rare if you like your steak medium-rare.
I love this Irish restaurant and bar. Thursday steak night is an awesome deal. We had a good time here. Steak cooked perfect. Wine was tasty. The atmosphere was perfect for friends gathering.
