This place is the worst Japanese food I ever had in Auckland. The Sashimi is not fresh at all. The price is rip off. It costs over $300 for 2 of us for 7 dishes! Look at the sea urchin in p1, it looks like shit!

The food was delicious and we enjoyed the flavors. However, the dishes came out quite slowly, we were there from 7 to 9. We were a group of four, and the portions were just enough to feel satisfied. Overall, a nice experience but the service speed could be improved.

I would like to rate this place highly but was let down by my recent experience. Used to visit this place 5-8 years ago but haven't been back in the recent years. I've heard good reviews recently so I thought I'll give it a go again. It's way overpriced for the quality we were served on the night. I ordered the $46 for 9 pcs nigiri set. The nigiri form was rough (see image). Reminds me of the foodcourt sushi standard or sushi train at best. I was expecting a higher standard for this price point and for what Masa "should" be. Ikura gunkan is $18 for 2. Price is on the very high end yet the ikura itself is soggy A standard small cup of Chawanmushi. Going for $21 is way overpriced. Apparently I was told by someone else that the sushi chef I had that night was not their usual older chef. The overall customer service was great. But either way the experience was not good and I don't think I would visit again.

Chef is skillful and nice. Staff and manager are great and have such a service mind. Both sushi and sashimi are fresh and tasty. For someone who wanna try sweet sake, I would recommend a second one from the top (sorry I forgot its name) It was strong but well balanced, pairing with fish is the best. Also homemade dessert is wonderful

Authentic Japanese cuisine made by a Japanese chef. The quality of the food was great, the atmosphere was genuine. However, the service staff might need to pay more attention to details. Overall, the experience and quality were fine, but I sense the prices were a little high considering the location and offerings, etc. A solid 4-star restaurant and worth a visit.

Very nice experience, the service was great, I made booking in advance and staff texted me one day before to check if Iβm ok to share with other group people. We had a private room n both celebrate birthday so thatβs fine. We had set menu and the food was amazing, fresh sashimi n authentic Japanese taste. We would go again!

Didn't take a photo, the grilled beef tongue was really nice and the scallop shashimi. The rest didn't exceed much of my expectation. Visited this place again recently, food tasted average but really overpriced.

Overall the food is ok and service is very friendly and welcoming. The presentation of the dishes is beautiful especially for the Sashimi plate. We have been waiting about 30 minutes for the first dish to come as I can understand they were very busy on that day. But there are something they could do better: Salmon sashimi tastes very fresh and good, but the King Fish is not fresh particularly strong smell. Tempura is not that crispy and a bit hard. The sushi rice is very hard as well.
