A more old school Japanese restaurant servers wearing kimonos. Large space with private rooms and the garden. Service is good with lots of variety in the menu except dessert. The flavors were good especially sashimi, fresh and tasty. However, some of the mains were too sweet, the salad was not good. Definitely not cheap a place.
The sushi was okay, but the lady who served us made us feel very unwelcome. She had a flat facial expression and mumbled our order so quickly that it felt like we were being rushed or were bothering her. Ruined whole atmosphere. Wont be back again.
I have been this place for many times over a decade. It always has been great! Just had a working lunch today, ordered a $50 set lunch , the tall waitress took my set away when i has no time to start my fruit which was included i the set lunch. This was quite rushed and intimidating to me. Few minutes later i just saw her was mixing the salad by her hands behind the bar. I am so sure she did not wash her hands to do this preps for food. This is absolutely disgusting and wrong practice i the kitchen.
This is absolutely my favorite Japanese Restaurant in Auckland. Authentic Japanese food in high quality. Price is reasonable. The owners has run this Restaurant more than 15 years. You must try. Recommend: Jumbo Salmon Sushi Roll; Ell Bento. Yummy
We use to come here a lot. It has never been a cheap place to get japanese food but the food was tasty and I didn't mind paying a bit more. But this lunch I had today has just given overpriced a whole different meaning. This yuzu chicken hot pot on the lunch special menu is priced at $40. Waitress told me it has vermicelli in it. I expected a pot of noodles. In the end I got served a pot of soup with five slices of chicken, four slices of tofu with a small mouthful of vermicelli. The soup was tasty but this lack of value of money is starting to become a bit ridiculous. I still think there are nice food to be had here but I would advise staying clear of any hotpots. Best stick to their bento rice set special which is priced at $49.90 but at least for that price you get a massive platter of food.
Great japanese experience, had teriyaki don, agadashi tofu and it was amazing, a bit pricey but worth it
Highly recommended, value for money!!! Food was superb and everything was very fresh. I was a bit cautious in regards to the services, having read the previous review. However, I found the entire dining experience very pleasant. The owner was actually very nice and accommodating. She is more like a "GTO" style character, if you know what I mean. The price is very fair for the quality of the food. The A5 beef sukiyaki was amazing! This is one of the best geniune Japanese restaurant that I have tired in Auckland. My first choice of Japanese food from now.
