   What an incredible find! It’s times like this where 5 stars isn’t enough. We had the most lovely experience. Not only was the food delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned, the staff had the most amazing energy and I can truly see why this restaurant is highly praised. You can feel their passion through their attentive service and tasteful food. Great variety in selection of modern Japanese and more traditional Japanese dishes. Their maki rolls and nigiri selection are a must try! While the fish is very fresh and well prepped, Danryu makes the most delicious, unique sauces which is what makes their dishes stand out amongst Japanese restaurants. The interior was neat and clean with charming Japanese decorations. Make sure you make a reservation as they seat limited tables. We’ll be back for more soon!

   We came here to celebrate a birthday and the owner decorated a happy birthday signage. Also the owners are super friendly and kind. I love them. The food is sooo good. The sashimi was really fresh and the presentation was absolutely amazing. We also ordered Sunomono which has refreshing flavours. We ordered grilled oysters and it was very umami. I also ordered Chicken Teriyaki and the skin was really crispy. The dessert we ordered was matcha ice cream with mochi and it was honestly the cutest as they decorated with happy birthday cookie and candles. I totally did not expect to receive this kind of tiptop service and food from Auckland. Feels like I’m in Japan and makes me really miss Japan.

   I'm very picky when it comes to Japanese food but this place is excellent! It's close to Devonport Warf so just a short ferry hop from the CBD. With diverse good quality food, and drinks. On top of that the owners are Adorable, Lovely and Warm. You easily see they like what they do and it's shows. This type of place is getting rare nowadays. Will definitely come back and highly recommended.

   One of the best meals I have eaten anywhere in the world. Every dish was carefully balanced and delicious. Paired with attentive service and well spaced tables with limited diners at any one time it was a memorable meal. My husband said his oysters were superb as was the soft shell crab. To top it off we left with a gift of an origami swan and flower in honour of our wedding anniversary. I couldn't recommend Danryu more highly.

   The best Japanese restaurant in whole of Auckland. Authentic, delicious and reasonably priced. You can tell the chef has great attention to detail for each and every items on the menu. The drinks and desserts were amazing too. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu very soon.

   HIGHLY RECOMMEND this unique place in Devo: Such a culinary adventure! There are not enough superlatives to define our dine in experiences at Danryu, pictures talk for themselves. Sasee and Kayoko are an amazing team and singular hosts. We felt special savouring their mouth watering meals and being entertained by their bewitching professionalism. The sense of warm atmosphere is on point, you really feel traveling in Japan for the night. Be prepared to be astonished, all your senses will thank you! Also, it's preferable to book in advance.
