   My eye fillet beef skewers (it was a mix of three cubes of eye fillet and cheap schnitzel) were overcooked and three half skewers, $38. The rice was dry and overcooked. Very disappointing. The toasted brioche $27 was overpriced for two pieces of brioche toast with tiny bits of tomato and could the feta get any smaller?? A generous topping of baby spinach tried to cover up the lack of toppings…. The rectangular plates were really annoying as they spin as you try to eat your food. The staff were really friendly and efficient. However, a check on which beer in which glass would be more professional. (Ie Stella doesn’t go in a Guinness glass) The atmosphere was below par. From the torn outside awning to the stack of chairs in the corner of the front of the restaurant (hiding the fire extinguisher!), to the poor state of the bathroom. This place needs some serious updates.

   Montrose Cafe offers fabulous food and coffee. The staff are incredibly friendly, but the service could do with some improvement. Despite having plenty of employees, many seem idle. The decor is outdated and the space feels overly cluttered, which detracts from the overall dining experience.

   ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing experience at Montrose Cafe, Bistro, and Bar! The coffee was delightful, and the server, Bruce, was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere and ambience were perfect, creating a cozy and inviting environment. The selection of food and drinks was impressive, catering to various tastes. Highly recommend this place for a great dining experience!

   The atmosphere was so calming and great (went around midday) and the waiter/front of house was so friendly and nice! My partner ended up getting the fish and said it was the best fish he’s had since coming to New Zealand! They also asked when we placed our order if we had any allergies right away :) Definitely recommend Montrose Cafe, great people, great food, great experience. :)

   We tried this bistro for dinner and we were very impressed! The food was beyond scrumptious and the customer service was exceptional! We ordered a few entrees and mains which were all very very delicious but the winner was the desserts for us. The bistro was child friendly with high chairs and a kids menu and the staff were all friendly and accomodating to our needs as parents. What really elevated our experience was the wait staff Noam and Tom. They were so friendly and provided exceptional customer service. Thank you for a great dining experience we will definitely be coming back here again.

   Where to start. The service is always impeccable. The chef’s creations are delightful and sumptuous. The Swedish meatballs: incredible. The jambalaya: desirable even if you don’t do well with mild/medium spice. The pork belly: just fantastic. Our friend with celiac disease was able to eat here with no issues; she had a side of fries as a starter and then the pork belly.
