You really should not complain about noise levels if you are in a dorm room, get real. Street noise for my room was non existent but noise from the dining area did carry, though it was not bad. The hostel is excellent value for money., pay a few dollars more and have a room with fewer people in it. Bathrooms were relatively clean, be responsible and clean up after yourself, the kitchen and dining areas are the same. It is not rocket science. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Checkout at 10am, but you can hang around in the lounge, sometimes all day. Great location with the supermarket across the road, museum, Marina, restaurants, etc all close by. The signposted route to walk up Mount Victoria is around the corner.

Spent 3 nights, twin room and location was really good but the hostel was very loud in general. We woke up every night because of people yelling, laughing, slamming doors (very strong) even tho hostel has quite hours at nights. Also they werenβt using the public toilets very clean. Good hostel and staff in general, but donβt think people are respectful.

The hostel is good. Beds are really comfortable, with curtains. I was in a 4 bed shared room for one week, it was perfect and I was alone in the room 3 nights ! The kitchen is well equipped even if it's not the cleanest that I've seen. I met some people too. And there is a supermarket right in front of the hostel so it's cool Staff really welcoming Windows needs to be repaired bc you can't close them completely, some air can still pass and I was right above the ventilation system of a restaurant, so it was noisy because I couldn't close the farm completely (room 614)

Nice modern hotel. Staff should smile and be more helpful. Don't just tell guests to park at Oriental Bay cos if you go there, there are both paid and free parking but which is which. $4 to store luggage for a while? Please check that all windows are not leaking cos our room's windows can't be shut tight.

I have stayed here over one month. Great place to stay no matter you choose bunk bed or twin room. Stuff is always helpful and kind to guests. Kitchen and bathroom are always clean and tidy. People who choose to live here are also polite and nice. Most of guests respect the quiet time. Definitely will come back if I need. If there are more female room would be better for me.

Customer service at the front desk is very knowledgeable about the local area. Max was particularly helpful in providing assistance with setting up a NZ bank acc during my first week in the country

Average stay, nothing special once again from a YHA hostel. - Staff donβt seem eager to help and seem slow in their job. - Large and well equipped kitchen and lounge chill area. - The bed has no electricity sockets or charging points next to it, which is very disappointing for this day and age. - The rooms have lockers were to safely store belongings which was good. The hostel is in a good location, no atmosphere whatsoever and nothing special about it.

Having stayed at YHA in Australia and NZ, we thought YHA Wellington should be fine. Booked a room with en-suite for 4 nights. Room was awful. It was in really bad conditions, lack of power sockets and thereβs no WiFi at all (it was at 5th floor) despite what the staff insist. Toilet was also in very bad condition. The deal breaker was the toilet flush doesnβt work. After a flush, it takes 30min before it can flush again. The pump was that weak. We canβt live with this. Demanded a refund and checked out the next morning.

Very bad value for money! Key cards for the rooms often donβt work, was because of that locked out of my room at night and had to sleep in one of the common rooms two times. Also the Wifi is extremely bad. The kitchen is good but for a hostel that size there are not enough toilets and showers per floor which is why they get dirty quickly. My room was basically ok, but the bed linen was dirty and no Wifi. It is still by far not the worst hostel I stayed in but for this price I expect it to be much better. Location is probably the best thing about his hostel. Wouldnβt stay again.
