   We booked for our work Christmas lunch. Great table overlooking the estuary. Good menu selection with ample portions. We ordered a couple of sides, but didnt really need them. Staff were friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

   Amazing setting above the water with a gentle breeze. Pork belly starter with a Spanish twist melted in the mouth. Ribs were tender with plenty of meat and a nice sauce. Great staff and service!

   We tried their Tiger Prawn Risotto and Pork Ribs, and both dishes were impressive. The risotto was creamy and rich, with juicy and large size tiger prawns. The texture was just right — not too heavy but full of flavour. The pork ribs were perfectly cooked, falling off the bone with each bite. The sauce coated the ribs beautifully, making every bite flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable, and sitting by the riverside with a gentle breeze makes it the perfect spot to enjoy a laid-back weekend afternoon.

   Steak was fantastic, service was good, a good local pub. Amazing sticky toffee pudding too. Oysters smelled a little fishy and obviously aren't shucked fresh but they actually tasted perfectly fine.

   I can't fault the service and the location but i was disappointed with the food. I ordered the market fish and it came out beautifully presented, it just lacked in flavor. All the elements just needed a little bit more depth. It was not bad but it was not great either and the flavor can only be described as boring. Yet if you read the menu description, it sounds mouth-watering. This was the same with the gnocchi that my friend ordered and the burger that my partner got. The fries that came with the burger I couldn't fault.

   This is an awesome place for weekend family lunch / brunch. We had an awesome time.. we went during the day but I'm sure it would be magical at night too .. with the terraces overlooking the river. NZ oldest tavern and truly living UpTo the expectations.. must go on the culinary list..

   The Riverhead resturant is fantastic. The service is top class and the food is good portions, and the quality is brilliant and its finger licking good. I also love that they have cocktails and they actually know how to make them properly. In summer is great to sit out side and have a beautiful view of the water and in winter its cosy inside with the fire going. There is also a private room “the old Pub” you can hire for a function. I just love the atmosphere, vibe, service and food. Go and enjoy! I always go back .
