“Best working hostel in NZ! Rob (manager) goes well out of his way to get you a job and makes you feel at home. I ended up staying for around 7 months and during lockdown! It is a working hostel so everyone stays long term and has a job. Made friends for life here and have so many amazing memories.”

“A beautiful little lake surrounded by native bush secured by a "predator proof" fence used to raise young kiwi birds until they are able to fend for themselves (about a year old I think). The area was badly affected by Cyclone Gabrielle in February of 2023 so a lot of the walking tracks are still under repair.”

“We loved our 1960's style motel stay. Super clean room, plenty of space, very comfy beds n pillows, quality linen. Loved the fully equipped kitchen and amenities. Pool was clean and staff really friendly. Parked right outside our room. Shower pressure a bit slow but not a problem. Would stay again if we return from Australia. Thank you”
