The views are a stunning reward on a clear day. The track is up is steep 600 meter climb then a small decent down to the beautiful untouched waterfall. Very refreshing and peaceful. Lots of exposed tree roots on the tracks, trip hazards and a few washouts over winter can only explain the current condition of the track. Best to watch your footing. We went when the track was very dry and loose under foot, we did the full loop track in unsuitable footwear and suffered many slips, trips, falls, and bum slides resulting in grazes bumps and bruises on the way down. The track was well marked with orange triangles a bonus as we didn't get lost and add extra time to our journey.

Beautiful, rush NZ bush filled with fat kereru and a fiasco of piwakawaka. The waterfall could be admired for hours. Fairly easy walk for all ages, clear paths and full cover from sun.

Loop track and waterfall track are well maintained and easy for families. We also did the Totaranui track, which was more steep and challenging, however well marked with orange arrows.

Nice walk, good if you have kids. Our 5 year old boy had no trouble making it to the waterfall. It was cold at the waterfall though as it’s in the shade. The lookout is a good spot for lunch.

Beautiful walk on a clear winter day. While it’s of moderate difficulty, it’s a steep, narrow shingle path a lot of the way and we saw 3 people slide and fall coming down. Google map doesn’t quite take you to the start of the walk. You need to drive into the reserve then you’ll see the start of the walk on your right.

Awesome spot, beware of new Totaranui Track - it is steep and unformed.

The loop track is a highly recommended really nice walk through interesting and varied mature original bush with beautiful birdsong. The track to the waterfall is a lot more challenging but also well worth doing. There are great views over the Canterbury Plains at the top of this track.

Fantastic walk for kids and elderly. Other than the initial steps it is easily doable for most people. Beautiful woodland, some nice extra touches like a bird hide. The waterfall is very steep but can be left out as it's a separate walk from a point on the main track.

Beautiful track through NZ native Bush. Native birds aplenty. Waterfall extension includes superb view of Canterbury plains
