   Best sunrise spot in Canterbury? Hands down. We set the alarms for a wild 3:15am (why do we do this to ourselves?), hit the road by 3:45, grabbed gas half-asleep, and made it to the trailhead by 5:20, with head torches lighting the way through the stillness. The track itself? Somewhere between easy and moderate… although my head cold had me wheezing like a winded goat. Still, that sunrise? Unreal. The kind that makes you forget you’re sleep-deprived and slightly unwell. 1hr 40 to the top (with a few ‘let me breathe’ moments), 1hr 15 back down. Totally worth it for a morning like this..with my crew and the doggo by my side.

   Beautiful walk, but after all the rain we hsf it's realy muddy. But still walkable. Heaps of fallen trees, but easy to dodge them.

   Walk is worth the view. Pretty well maintained in comparison to other non-DOC walks. Not well mapped or explained in terms of the loop track. We did to the summit and back the same way in under 2hrs

   Left at 3am, got to the base by 5, found the courage to walk up with the scary boars around 6, made substantial gains up the mountain by 7, heard a boar in the darkness a few meters above me, gapped it, phone died, ran out of water, ran out of food, pushed my heavy bike back up the access road, biked back home, got very sick and died. 10/10 core memory, great life experience!
