I just spent 6days at Allevia Epsom following heart surgery, the staff are fantastic, from the nurses to kitchen staff. My problem is the upgrade & renovations appear cheap & the rooms lack a few important & practical things.Being a private hospital & having medical insurance assured my stay. However,, in the patient bathrooms, the provided body wash, shampoo & conditioner are fastened to the shelf (to avoid theft I guess) but are too high to reach & pump properly to use, especially for someone that cannot stretch up having undergone surgery. The shower head itself can be detached but to enable one to wash or rinse legs or lower regions properly, a metal β€˜ring’ on the shower hose prevents this. There is no shelf to sit clean towels on, clean towels are placed on the handbasin where they’re bound to get wet when washing ones hands or relocate to the toilet seat, one narrow towel rail & a hook behind the door & thats it. The sole occupant room is so spacious you could fit an extra bed. One piddly side draw, which houses the telephone & kitchen menu, no shelves to display flowers or greeting cards. I was also surprised not to see any recliners anywhere, unlike public hospitals. For a family member to rest a while when visiting, a recliner is a must, especially for elder folk. One cannot be expected to sit in one of the armchairs for too long. I do hope this review is seen by someone that can raise these concerns.

Sadly my experience here felt like a textbook case of taking my money but offering very little care. After a traumatic stay, despite being clearly unwell after a procedure, I was discharged in a state that I believe was unsafe and unsupported. When I reached out shortly after, on the journey home, for help, I was turned away and told to find an A and E departmentβ€” with no guidance offered. I would avoid this hospital at all costs but if you are considering private care here, I recommend asking very specific questions about aftercare, discharge processes, and how they support patients when complications arise.

I get very anxious about hospital procedures and I did let the staff know prior. They were absolutely amazing from the front desk to the caterers, drs and of course the nurses! Everyone was so pleasant and professional. We all hear stories about hospital food however the hamburger I ordered was far more superior than the one I brought a few weeks ago in a well known cafe. It seems a little macabre to recommend a hospital but the team here are wonderful.

Had hip replacement surgery and Mercy made it an absolutely top experience. Thanks so much to the nurses, surgery team, physio, caterers, cleaners. Everyone made the procedure as painless as possible.

Here is a compliment email I sent to the hospital on the day after I was discharged: I had a surgery on Friday 26 May with Dr Mistry in Mercy hospital. I just wanted to pass on some compliments to the team as I never had such a caring experience in a hospital (even private) I am sorry I cannot remember all the names, but it started with Karen at reception who helped me get organised as I was not able to stand more than 5 min: she had everything ready for me and I was able to lie down within minutes after my arrival. Daniel and June were very attentive and chatty prior to my surgery, at the time when the stress level is quite high for a patient. When I woke up in the room 25, I received so much attention, love and care from all the nurses and HCAs. I have a laugh with the lovely lady who delivered my food (and it was an exceptional quality, with so much choices). In a nutshell, I was not treated as a (NHI) number but as a person. Everyone maintained a smile even if they are working under pressure of demanding patients. Everyone took the time to ask how I am today and if I need anything. Everyone looked genuine and happy to be at work. Please pass on my compliments to anyone who might have interacted with me. I arrived with a low morale and a bad back: I left 2 days later walking (thanks to the surgery) but feeling I was very well looked after. Thanks again for everything

Took really good care of my wife and all the staff were so nice and caring. Quiet and calm hospital. Only downside is the parking is always full so you have to park on the street or drive around a long time.

Nurses here are wonderful!! I've gone into radiology here at MercyAscot many times. The nurses are kind, caring, empathic and very patient. All my concerns and questions were answered with care and time. Michelle who works in the Radiology as a nurse for the "Heart Group", is simply AMAZING!! Shes brilliant and very empathic. Thanks ❀
