Hands down the best fish and chips in Orewa, and possibly the best pineapple fritter in the entire world. Tucked away in a small courtyard, with a pleasant atmosphere, this place delivers on all the reasonably priced and delicious fried goods you’d expect to find at a fish and chip shop. These guys do not fool around when it comes to the cinnamon/sugar to pineapple fritter ratio, they heard your bemoans and strife you experience when ordering them anywhere else, so they made sure to double down on the goods and COAT the entire fritter in cinnamon sugary goodness. Highly recommend
Ok wow. First of all, ring ahead and place your order if you’re hungry or in a hurry. We just randomly called in while visiting the beach on a spontaneous trip from south Auckland and waited almost half an hour for our order, but it was a busy Saturday night and we weren’t in a hurry. There’s a reason so many people buy from there, the food is epic! Tasty, fresh, packaged nicely….and for what we got, it’s a good deal! We could order half as much next time and still feed the family. We got two chook burgers, a lusty, wedges and a kids hotdog meal. Could have split the chook burger between two, it’s a whopper. I had to remove half my filling to eat it and still couldn’t finish it. Highly recommend! Also their kids meals are a good deal for the price.
Ordered tarakihi with extra crumbs and kumara chips on side! The fish was fresh and so crispy with crumbs. Kumara chips were so good too. Strongly recommend :)
Fish is exceptional. Burgers are great. Chips feel undercooked in my opinion and I always feel like I have to eat slow or wash them down with water to avoid choking if I don't put them in the oven for an extra few minutes compared to everywhere else.
I can not overstate just how great the fish is (whether battered or crumbed). If you are in Orewa Kippers is a MUST.
We got some takeaways. Two hoki and chips @ $13.60. They were delicious and well worth for the amount spent. It is highly recommended.
