   We were traveling with friends and had this restaurant recommended by his colleague, the sister of the owner. The atmosphere inside was well designed and inviting. We began with some wine, which we later found and bought to bring home because we loved it, and the famous green-lipped mussels. Then we each order different meals to get a nice sampling. Lamb, tomahawk steak and fish, it did not disappoint. Plus the owner and her staff were friendly and attentive. Such a highlight of our trip!!

   We came here for dinner on our first night in Auckland and it delivered! Niro and her team were gracious to seat us close to closing and quickly took our orders and served us. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to eat here as part of our honeymoon. The drinks were crisp and the food was incredible. I ordered the pepper steak and my husband ordered the spaghetti bolognese per the staff’s recommendation, and neither of us could stop eating and cleaned our plates. Not to mention the privacy the booth seating provided and the joyous Christmas decor! Highly recommend stopping in if you have the chance.

   Tony’s Lord Nelson is one of Auckland CBD’s longest-standing steakhouses, but our experience didn’t quite meet expectations. The mussels had a sauce with an unusual mix of flavours — a little too sweet yet savoury at the same time. The garlic bread was nicely buttery but could have used a bit more garlic flavour. The steak was decent, just a touch on the dry side. Service was generally polite, though a bit forgetful at times — we had to ask a few times for water, and sauces for the steaks weren’t mentioned when ordering. Overall, it was an okay experience, but a few small improvements could make a big difference.

   My partner and I had a lovely dinner at Tony’s Lord Nelson. We were well accommodated in a beautiful booth, and the service throughout the night was really nice and attentive. I ordered the lamb shank, which was full of flavour and paired perfectly with the mash though it wasn’t quite as soft as I would’ve liked. My partner started with the shrimp cocktail, which he devoured (a good sign!), and followed it up with a scotch steak served with mushrooms and fresh fries. His steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Overall, we had a great experience good food, great service, and a cosy atmosphere. We’d definitely come back!

   ​I had a great experience here and will definitely be back! The food was fantastic, with a great selection of quality food. The restaurant's theme is fun and consistent, and the comfortable seating and great atmosphere made for a very enjoyable evening. The only minor critique is that the service felt rushed amd pushy. I'll definitely be back

   We had a 6.45pm reservation on a Fri evening and while settling in, realised the place was filling up! Nonetheless, we were well attended to. The black pepper steak was delightful and the potato croquettes that came with it just a joy to bite into. The fish of the day was lightly battered and tasted fresh. We also had the chocolate mud cake - perfectly moist and chocolatey but not overly sweet. An excellent dessert to cap the fabulous meal. It's wonderful as is, but for me, it would reach perfection if the whipped cream that came with it were replaced by a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream! :-) Overall, a very enjoyable evening meal with good service in a unique dining setting.

   Let's start with the positives. The atmosphere is really neat and the service is fantastic. The decor is very old fashioned and outdated butin a good way. It's a really cool spot Everyone on the staff was incredibly professional and knowledgeable in their role. The food unfortunately did not live up to expectations. Nothing was wrong with it or bad but nothing stood out either. It was all fairly mediocre and that's fine but I expected a little more from the other reviews on here. PS any place serving proper food should have linen napkins, not paper
