Featured below are papadums, samosas, butter chicken, cream chicken with rice and naan. There was something odd with the cream chicken? Think it needed salt because it was super bland. Perhaps they just took mild to the extreme. I didn't enjoy my main at all so wouldn't order it again. My friend said the butter chicken wasn't anything to write home about. Samosas were really tasty though! Went here recently for my friend's birthday dinner and I had a better experience food-wise. Butter chicken, lamb korma, lamb biryani, chilli chicken and naan was what we all agreed on and the food was tasty - the highlight for me being the lamb biryani and lamb korma. Service was quite slow and not very attentive even though it wasn't busy at all. Took colleagues here for dinner during Restaurant Month (see photos for menu). Great value for a three course dinner and a glass of wine! Service was much better on this visit. I went for the chicken Afghani tikka (my favourite), lamb Rogan josh and Gulab jamun for dessert. Pinot noir was my wine of choice as I'm not a white wine girl. The highlight for me was my entrée and I'd totally order it again. Wasn't a huge fan of my main so wouldn't order it again. Dessert is my usual fave but was disappointed that it was only one - two or three would've been ideal. They don't have a booking system so this is something that should be worked on. Booking by phone only works if the person who takes the call writes it down! Luckily they weren't busy so my table of six was easily accommodated even though I had called weeks beforehand.

Complaint Regarding Unattended Reservation at Chawla's 2 Dear Chawla's 2 Management, The management should attached a notice on the main restaurant entrance again "a notice", if that was the case of accident inside the restaurant and also call the respective members who reserved the table (before hand) as first table and bookme they both share details of the reverved table before hand. We even try calling several times if you failed to attend the call one should have a professional approch to revert the call back atleast. Very disappointing we were with two youngs and we made every effort to make it transperent. Never visiting again. Thanks for giving us a vibe of INDIA (miss management and failer of service). I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally express my disappointment with my recent experience at your restaurant located at 21A Wellesley Street West, Auckland Central on the 30th of March. I had made a reservation for a table for four at 5:15 PM and arrived at the restaurant by 5:10 PM. To my surprise, I waited until 5:45 PM, yet there was no sign of service or any explanation for the delay as the main door was closed. According to the business hours displayed on your windows, you are open for dinner from 5:00 PM to 11:15 PM, which only adds to my confusion regarding the lack of attention to reservations. In an attempt to seek clarification, I called the mobile number provided by Bookme on seven separate occasions, but unfortunately, my calls went unanswered. The lack of communication during this time was incredibly frustrating and felt unprofessional. Ultimately, I contacted Bookme.co.nz, and they were able to process a refund for my reservation. However, I believe it is disheartening for any customer to experience such a lapse in service, especially when Bookme had informed your restaurant via email five days prior regarding our booking. I think it is essential for businesses to maintain a standard of communication with their patrons and ensure that they can count on the reservations they make. Unfortunately, my experience at Chawla's 2 has left a negative impression and dissuaded me from considering your establishment in the future. I sincerely hope you will take this feedback seriously and strive to improve your service for future customers. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Dhaval

Just yumm! Their special butter chicken with garlic nan is a must try. One portion rice is complimentary. The lady that manage the restaurant is a rockstar! I visited on last night of my Auckland trip and cursed myself for not discovering this before. Quantity and taste was better than most restaurants here in India. Kudos!

Neha is a great host and the curries are freshly made and very delicious. I also recommend that you give their masala tea a try. My favourite dish is the Chicken Vindaloo, with rice and their soft Naan bread that you can dip into the gravy for the ultimate and most beautiful Indian cuisine and experience Auckland city has to offer. All their delicious dishes are of top quality. Respectfuly, Aneez.

(Visited on 21 August 2023, reviewed on 23 August 2023) My friends and I went to this restaurant for dinner. We ordered the Lamb Do Pyaza, Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani with the naan baskets (cheese, garlic and plain). All were delicious, especially the lamb Do Pyaza, which we asked for the Asian spicy level (not very spicy for me though). I also tried the mango kulfi and Masala Chai. The Masala Chai could be better as it tasted like a regular tea instead of one with spices, and the kulfi was not bad. Overall, it is still quite good for an affordable Indian meal in the CBD.

Their lunch special is totally worth it if you are looking for some cheap and tasty eats which is pretty hard to find in Auckland nowadays. Tried the mutter panner which came with rice, Naan, paapad and a drink of your choice for 12.50$. Was really very tasty. Service and attention was top notch. Will be back to try the chicken and lamb dishes.

Very poor customer service. I didn’t get to dine in this restaurant. 17/08/23 I went there to experience a good meal. Place wasn’t busy. But the staff member totally ignored me for a while and kept doing what she was doing. Didn’t even bother to say “ Hi”, common courtesy wasn’t there. To me it Looks like she is not getting paid enough to give a good service or she simply hate people. Finally she gave me a annoyed look and ask “ YES” in a loud voice . I said “ I need a table for one” . She point out the table next to me while she is standing inside the counter with a very unpleasant look. I didn’t feel comfortable with her welcome/ attitude and realised that I couldn’t expect anything good from this frustrated staff member.she should not be in service industry. I personally wouldn’t recommend this place and wouldn’t go there at all.

One of the most delicious Indian food I’ve ever tried. This little cozy restaurant is located in Auckland CBD. I had the chicken madras, yummy !… it includes a portion of steamed jasmine rice. Roti bread is apart. The prices are perfectly reasonable and the quality of the products is high. I came back 2 nights after the first time I tried it, my favorite Indian food in Auckland!
