   We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Black Salt Bar & Eatery .The food was delicious, the ambience was lovely, and the service was top-notch. A special mention to Gagan, who truly made our visit exceptional. She was so caring and welcoming that it honestly felt like we were enjoying a meal at home. Her friendly nature, beautiful smile, and the way she suggested different food options made us want to keep ordering more! Overall, an excellent experience great food, friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and genuine hospitality.

   I had an incredible evening at Blacksalt Bar and Eatery in New Lynn—it’s become my new go-to spot for relaxed yet upscale vibes! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with that perfect mix of cozy comfort and lively energy, especially on a Friday night when the place buzzes without feeling overwhelming. We started with the Baked Camembert ($25), paired with red onion marmalade and garlic focaccia—melty, indulgent perfection that had us scraping the plate clean. For mains, the Pan Seared Sea Bass ($38) stole the show: flaky, fresh fish in a fragrant saffron and mussel broth, with tender potatoes and briny olives that elevated every bite. My partner raved about the Roasted Lamb Rump ($25), glazed with pomegranate and grilled to juicy perfection alongside those grilled cutlets. Portions were generous, flavors seasonal and spot-on, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared without being pretentious. The staff were absolute gems—attentive, knowledgeable about the cocktail menu (we loved their classic twists), and super accommodating when we tweaked a dish for dietary needs. They even chatted about upcoming quiz nights and events, making it feel like a neighborhood gem. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and wrapping up with a creamy Cheesecake ($38—worth every cent for the chocolate filigree surprise) was the cherry on top.    Service was great, the female waitstaff was lovely. The lamb shank was yummy and good portion, the other food was okay. Loses a point as the mussels were extremely fishy (some of them tasted off) & almost every single one had crabs and shell inside. Otherwise a nice ambience to the place and good music playing.

From start to finish, the experience was seamless, and a huge credit goes to the chef Naveed for creating dishes that were bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. The spaghetti with meatballs was hearty, rich, and cooked to perfection—the kind of comfort food you can’t stop thinking about. The burger was juicy, full of flavor, and put together with real care, every bite satisfying. The green lip chowder was an absolute standout—creamy, indulgent, and showcasing fresh New Zealand mussels beautifully. And the Caesar salad was crisp, fresh, and elevated with just the right amount of dressing and crunch. Beyond the food, the service tied everything together. Attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming, the team made us feel completely at home. If you’re looking for a place where every dish is cooked with passion and delivered with a smile, Black Salt is the spot.    We had our annual Christmas Eve dinner celebration at Black salt. We had a few requests and changes a few weeks before the dinner and they were quick to respond to me. The food we had was great. We had fried cauliflower and squid to start. Sirloin, lamb shanks, tagliatelle, Cajun chicken sizzler. We also had for dessert sticky toffee pudding and the cheesecake. Everything was really flavourful and tasty. The waitress was especially nice and very attentive to what we needed. Thank you for a lovely evening

   We went to this pub for drinks, nibbles, and the weekly trivia competition. The bar was packed, with very loud and lively music. We ordered our drinks and food and settled in for the trivia game. While we enjoyed playing the game (and ended up winning 2nd place), it was annoying that the music was so loud, it was difficult to hear the questions. Other than that, we had a good time. The food and drinks were good and everyone had fun. Would 100% return to this pub.

   Went to black Salt on a Saturday arvo, vibes were good on a nice sunny day. I ordered the fish and chips - a Staple kiwi favourite. Chips were solid and nicely smashed down. The fish was not my favourite for sure as it did not suit my palette. The salad was filler - tough to eat

   First time for me here and it was one to remember. Coming back from a stint in Australia I thought the prices here were on point! The portions were just right and the selections plenty. I ordered the Lamb Shank and it was good! Was hoping it would fall off the bone but all is good. I still enjoyed it as well as the rest of the family. The service was above and beyond and the waiter was so patient with our table! Would definitely be back here. Give it a go if you're around the area.
