I tasked my husband with buying our 5 year old daughter’s first bike for Christmas, something she could learn to pedal on and ride at the playground. He doesn’t know anything about bikes, so he went here for advice and they upsold him on a $460, 7-speed 20” mountain bike. He brought it home and it was instantly obviously unsuitable, he rang them straight back the next morning, but they refused the return and just kept telling him what a great bike it is. Not arguing it’s a bad bike, but totally the wrong advice for a 5 year old’s starter bike who’s never gonna do more than ride around the kids bike loop at Avalon park playground. I went out and bought her a simple single-speed 16” bike from the Warehouse, but now we’re stuck with a nearly-$500 bike that was totally wrong for our needs. Bad advice from them in the first place, and stink that they’d refuse a next-day return on a brand new untouched bike.

I've gone into this store a bunch over the year and a half that I've jumped back into cycling (daily commuter, on a fixed gear/single-speed). These guys really know what they're doing, charge decent prices, are very polite, and are very quick. I think the closest thing I'd have to a criticism is that they don't appear to have as much fixed/track bike parts and knowledge, but honestly not every shop can do everything. I cannot remember his name, but the American mechanic is really onto it.

Lost a screw that held my gear shifter to the handlebar whilst riding today and went to Evo to see if they could help out. The team were so helpful in finding a match, even grinding down the length to ensure a perfect fit. Thanks guys really appreciate the top service!

Technicians weren't pushy, they were really helpful. Great service and advice. Good communication via txt to let me know when my bike was ready too. The team made buying a bike and the gear a pleasure.

Picked up my new mountain bike today and couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. The customer service was excellent from start to finish. Special thanks to Brandon for expertly setting up my bike and patiently sharing riding tips. After a fantastic ride through the hills, I arrived home with a smile on my face. Love my new bike:)

Really friendly staff, keen on a bike chat. Offered to order some parts in for me without even flinching, some shops make it seem like a chore. They also warned me of an upcoming sale that could affect the pricing, so told me to hold off paying until the parts arrived in store, since they may end up cheaper, which they didn't have to do, but chose to out of kindness. Ended up saving me about $20-$30! 10/10 Backbones!

Im a mtb noob and took my bike in as the gears weren't shifting well and the shop I brought the bike from was shut. The guys were super friendly and helpful, fixed and explained everything for free. Thank you!!

Awesome experience here today. Had my tube burst while riding in the city, so ended up there as they were one of only 2-3 shops open on a Sunday (nice.) Rowan was an absolute legend: friendly, helpful, and impressive with his ability to multitask. Although I wasn't able to leave my bike there for full-on servicing (about a two-week wait for their technician, sadly), Rowan changed my tube on the spotβ€”talked me through how to patch the damaged one easily at homeβ€”and didn't even charge me for the labour. Was in and out with a brand new tube in 10 mins, for $10. Incredible and day-saving! I believe this bike shop is fairly new. With people/experiences like this, they should do really well in Welly. Thanks again, team!

Had my electrical scooter wheel burst on me. Ended up going to Evo Cycles to get it repaired. I was immediately welcome with friendly gesture. Once I've explained my situation, they had order the part to get it repaired for me. Came back to get it repaired with parts being ordered. They got it fixed for me. I wanted to pay for the service on getting fixed for me but they declined. If my scooter ever had any issues in the future, I will be sure to come back! Thank you so much!
