I've traveled around the entire world this year. This is my final stop and by far my worst hotel experience. Mainly due to the check-in experience and general customer service. The young man with the glasses who helped me for check-in seemed like it was his first time ever talking to a human being before, and first time checking anyone in. The issue came with credit cards. The credit card I was using, and I've used it at all my hotels, wasn't being accepted. It felt like I was talking to an unresponsive AI chatbot. It got declined. He said, "I'm sorry, we need a debit card." I showed him my card with the big writing across the front that says "debit card." And I said, "This is a debit card. Read it. It says debit card across the front." He says, "No, sorry, we need a debit card." I said, "Look physically on the card. Look at the writing. It is a debit card. I've used this at every hotel I've stayed at." He says, "No, we need a debit card." I'm then told I won't be able to access my $180 per day perdiem paid by my company because I won't be able to charge things to my room, and I'll have to pay all the bonds up front with Apple Pay. I was very confused and wanted to get more details about it. I asked, "Wait, so if I can't charge things to my room and I have to pay for food as I go, what happens to that $180 per day that the company has put on the room?" He says, "It's because your credit card isn't working." I said, "You don't understand me. What happens to the money which I have allocated to my spending that is already on the room? You're saying that I can't use that money and I have to pay things use my own credit card. What happens to it?" He says, "That's correct." I feel like I want to drive a fork through my eye. So unbelievably infuriating due to his total incompetence. I then decide to just pay with Apple Pay for the entire bond and sort out reimbursement with my company later on, because I was totally fed up with this guy and I just wanted to go to my room. After scanning my Apple Pay, he then says, "Okay, all good, that card's on the room now, and you haven't been charged anything." I said, "What?" He said, "That card was accepted," and I said, "What do you mean? Wait, so I can charge things to the room now?" He said, "It accepted the digital card." Fed up once again, I decided to accept whatever he said purely so I can get going and check my account later if anything’s been taken out. He then says, "You might experience construction around the building from 9am to 5pm," and I burst out laughing almost like he was joking and trying to lighten the tension after a tense 30minute check in experience. Should’ve stayed in a hostel. On top of that, the bedside alarm next to my bed went off at 1:30am!! despite me never setting or using it. Breakfast was no better: Due to construction the buffet was moved to a conference room?! I ordered a cappuccino and was met with a blank stare, and β€œa cappuccino…?” he looked around confused said β€œOk?…”. I feel like I’m in the Truman show or something. Definitely do not stay here.

Renovation of the lobby is going on for MONTHS - entry and check-n area looks like a second rare backstreet hotel. Overall decor and fittings are starting to show their age. A great hotel in need of a facelift to justify what you pay to stay there. Staff and service are great and are carrying this old lady in dire need of a facelift.

Had an amazing stay at InterContinental Wellington! Top location, lovely rooms with windows that open for fresh air. The spa with pool, sauna and cold bath was perfect for relaxing. A special thanks to the concierge team β€”Jason, Zachary, Carlos and Benjamin β€” who were exceptionally courteous and dedicated, making my stay truly exceptional. Don’t hesitate to ask them for any information or recommendations! Reception was great too, especially Harjinder, who made everything effortless. Don’t miss this place β€” you might never want to leave!

Currently under construction which was fine. However the bars across the street are so loud that if your room is facing them you may as well go out and join them because you won’t be sleeping Very disappointed in the lack of sound proofing or mentioning that the room would become a nightclub on Friday night. Breakfast buffet amazing!!! But other than that I doubt I would choose this hotel again in the future especially for the price point The level of noise they shouldn’t even be able to charge you to stay here so be warned anyone that requires sleep.

Wonderful hotel in a perfect location. The rooms are extremely comfortable in the pool. Deck is very modern and beautiful. We had to catch a late flight and they were super accommodating and allowed us to stay at the hotel until 2:00 p.m. for no extra charge.

Service in the club level lounge was excellent - above and beyond, and the offerings there were truly superb. However, service in the downstairs lounge was really lackluster, where we were left alone entirely after initial service. Avoid the afternoon tea at hotel lounge, it's hardly better than the complimentary afternoon tea in the club lounge, much more expensive and far worse service.

I enjoyed my stay. The room was spacious and well appointed. Though it did take me a while to work out the light switches. The room was clean. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and towels. The temp control was easy to use. The fan was a little louder than I preferred, but not a real issue. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of light during the day. A nice view and very convenient central location in easy walking distance of everywhere I needed to go. The pool was closed during my stay, which I was notified about before I arrived. The gym was well equipped. A very nice breakfast buffet and helpful, welcoming staff. I would stay there again.

The Intercontinental Wellington was great for a weekend getaway. We stayed 2 nights and had access to the club facilities which were excellent. The staff were great and accommodating. We did have an issue with an air-conditioning unit on the first night and changed rooms without problem. Hopefully that gets fixed as you don't really want the sound of a coffee grinder going off intermittently at night. Anyway would we stay again? Yes as long as the air-conditioner is sorted.

Property is showing its age a bit (particularly the pool area), but the staff and overall experience here was fantastic. Wonderful, spacious lobby area with a great wine list and attentive waitstaff. Oversized room with a window that opened slightly (too often a rarity at hotels - but love the fresh air!!!). Convenient location, easy walk to the Airport Express bus, and loads of fantastic coffee shops and cafes in the neighborhood. We'll definitely return on our next visit to Wellington.

Easily one of the best hotel experiences we've had in a while. All the staff were so personable and went above and beyond to make our brief honeymoon stay very memorable. We received a lovely bottle of prosecco and desserts for our honeymoon and were also upgraded - a much appreciated surprise! The room was very clean. The location is perfect for exploring Wellington by foot. We also used the valet parking service and they were very efficient by taking our bags down after checking out and then by having our car ready when we were ready to leave a few hours later. We'd love to stay again and highly recommend.
